The ‘Green Dragon’ Slayers: How the Religious Right and the Corporate Right are Joining Forces to Fight Environmental Protection

Published on 22 April 2011 by People For the American Way

While people across the world celebrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, a powerful coalition of corporate and religious right organizations are seeking to radically redefine our relationship with the environment.

In a new report, The ‘Green Dragon’ Slayers: How the Religious Right and the Corporate Right are Joining Forces to Fight Environmental Protection, People For the American Way examines the religious right’s growing role in peddling corporate-sponsored myths about the environmental movement, and in rallying opposition to environmental protection – what they call “the Green Dragon.”

Themes explored in the report include:

- The religious right’s attempt to demonize those, including their fellow evangelicals, who advocate environmental protection;
- How the religious right’s anti-environmental talking points have seeped into mainstream GOP discourse and policy;

  1. Awesome marketing, How long before we are told jesus would drink coca cola?You can use religion to bend minds ,simply because the religious mind is already used to suspending disbelief, even in the face of overwhelming evidence.While outright liars like the religious right are allowed to spread such poison, america is bought and paid for by the rich companies who want to continue polluting because its more profitable.The huge financial clout wielded by the right comes from those companies,and from fundamentalist church groups intent on increasing their influence.
