Glenn Beck Warns That 10,000 Pastors Are Willing To Die Opposing Marriage Equality

Glenn Beck

To hear them tell it, you’d think that folks likes Glenn Beck or Mike Huckabee or others who cry wolf on a daily basis are going to be rounded up and tossed into prison any moment now. With the impending Supreme Court decision that is expected to make marriage equality the law of the land across the United States, they’ve been screaming into any microphone that they can access that Christians are going to be persecuted and turned into criminals for discriminating against the LGBT community. Just the other day, presidential candidate Mike Huckabee sounded the alarm and claimed that Christians would become criminals.

Now, Glenn Beck and his fringe religious friends are sounding their own alarm and proclaiming that there are at least 10,000 members of their “Black Robe Regiment” who are willing to die resisting the fictitious persecution of Christians in America that they’ve been predicting for years.

Via Right Wing Watch:

“The number in the Black Robe Regiment is about 70,000 now,” Beck said. “The number that I think will walk through a wall of fire, you know, and possible death, is anywhere between 17,000 and 10,000. That is an extraordinary number of people that are willing to lay it all down on the table and willing to go to jail or go to death because they serve God and not man.”

Garlow was in complete agreement, saying that the necessity of being willing to die is “honestly where we are.”

“We’ve come to that moment,” he said. “People like you and me and, thank God, many others are digging in very deeply and laying the benchmark of where we’re going to stand on these issues.”

“You’re going to see these 10,000 to 20,000 pastors begin to stand up,” Beck promised, “and say ‘it doesn’t matter if I lose my church, it doesn’t matter if I lose my building, it doesn’t matter if I lose my life, I will not sit down!’” (Source)

Martyrdom and sacrificing yourself for your religion? Where have we heard that before? Doesn’t that sound an awful lot like radical jihadists, the same people who right-wing alarmists want us to declare war on, even though they share a lot in common?

If you were wondering who the Black Robe Regiment is, it’s an organization of right-wing clerics created by David Barton and Glenn Beck back in 2010. Here’s David Barton himself explaining it on Glenn Beck’s show in April 2010, before Fox News decided Beck was too radical even for them:

“The Black Brigade or Black Regiment were the preachers, because they wore black robes. Black preachers, white preachers — they all wore black probes. And the British specifically blamed the preachers for the American Revolution. That’s where the title “Black Regiment” came from. One of the British officials talked about that.

It’s interesting that the British so hated what the preachers — they claim if it hadn’t been for the preachers, America would still be a happy British colony. So they blamed it on the preachers.

When they come to America, they start to decimating churches. They went to New York City. Nineteen churches — they burned 10 to the ground. They went across Virginia burning churches. They went across New Jersey burning churches. Because they blamed these preachers.” (Source)

The truth is that Glenn Beck and others of his ilk aren’t going to do a damn thing once marriage equality is the law of the land, other than beat their chests and find something else to get their followers riled up about.

What is alarming is the fact that there are many unhinged individuals out there who aren’t aware that people like Glenn Beck or Alex Jones are little more than clever scam artists selling fear to anyone who can’t see through their act. Some of these people will see the Supreme Court’s expected decision as the beginning of the persecution Glenn Beck and David Barton have been predicting, and it is very possible that they will take it upon themselves to commit acts of domestic terrorism.

Unfortunately, there’s little that can be done because the First Amendment protects free speech, even when it is hateful and irresponsible. Unless Glenn Beck were to call for armed rebellion against the government – which he won’t do because he’s not stupid enough to lose his show – he can continue to flirt with that fine line between inciting violence and free speech, while laughing all the way to the bank.

  1. Attention seekers … If someone's really going to off themselves they wont advertise and pull in this attention . They want their spotlight moment to show off their ever continuing ignorance . Let them all die off . No loss there . Just lesser the number of hate spreading bigots preaching their judgement on people . Which is not their job to do so anyhow .

  2. Gay “marriage” itself is dirtier water. It’s not what our physical anatomy was intended for, and this conclusion is the same whether you believe we were created by God or accidentally evolved. We should not normalize homosexuality any more than we should normalize obesity or alcoholism. Though they are not equal or the same, none are healthy lifestyles. No person has ANY right not given to him or her by the Creator. God made the family from the union of 1 man and 1 woman. No human can change God’s will. You may choose not to believe in The One True God, but no one will be exempt from the consequences of disobedience. His laws are for the good of all mankind. We were never meant to be demi gods ruling our lives by our own selfish desires. If it is same sex, it is not marriage. It is that simple. Whatever it is it is not marriage. As the saying would have been before schizophrenia ruled the land, “By definition marriage must include one man and one woman.” That is what makes marriage marriage. The word was invented for the coupling of a man and a woman. It was not invented for any other kinds of couplings. Can it be made clearer?

The Bible never actually refutes polygamy. The Bible says that it’s wrong for a man to put aside his wife for another. In polygamy, the man is not laying aside his wife, he’s welcoming another to join. That’s why righteous people in the Bible had multiple wives without being criticized by God or others.

As a true Muslim and believer in condemning this… our religion is flexible enough but no space for such rubbish… there is a detailed chapters in our religion book THE NOBLE QUR’AN in which you will find the story of ” People of LOT” who were involve in the same sin “The Homosexuality”, they all were destroyed b’coz of homosexuality…. Anatomy of anus is not fit for sexual act…. biology. Anus is endodermal in origin so its wound never heals. So, it becomes quite unnatural to get into anus. People find it disgusting to insert and move about the male executive organ into the anus, which serves to discharge the faeces.

Homosexuality is an insult to women. Men and women get sexual and emotional satisfaction from each other. Without them the human race is not going to survive. This is the main reason why Islam is against homosexuality. It is nothing to do with equality. Muslim community, Imams and Muslim schools must teach that homosexuality is a sin and against the teaching of Islam.

Why are we constantly hearing about an issue that effects less than 2% of the world’s population?!!! What about issues that effect everyone such as wealth inequality and dangerous banking?

Obviously there’s nothing more important to society today than gay rights. Gay marriage is a subject being spoken about in America and France as well as here.( maybe in other countries as well) Now, This is not an important thing at the moment with everything else that is happening. I don’t see what difference it makes if you call it marriage or a civil partnership. It doesn’t mean that the relationship is going to last any longer or be a happier one.Why in this age should rights be bestowed because of birth? Where is the equality in this? Although, why “other grounds”, why not just “sexuality”? It’s not a swear word.Equal rights to marry a Catholic? Didn’t think so.

Homosexuality doesn’t just go against the Bible, Quran, and whatever the Jewish book is called, It goes against Mother Nature as well. Here are some quotes from the Koran regarding Homosexuals Homosexual acts are condemned as unnatural. (Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you?) 7:80-81 Male homosexual activities are condemned as unnatural. 26:165-6 Male homosexuals commit abominations and act senselessly. 27:54-55 Male homosexuals acts are condemned as unnatural. 29:28-29

I can let most things go but the Gay lobby has gone too far with this nonsense… It is time to start fighting back, Our core values are being corrupted, How far before it’s too far, You answer that for yourselves.

    • considering there are over 38000 catholic priests in the USA, he is missing a few. Maybe in his religion, Catholics don’t count. Anyway, I think Glenn Beck is full of sh*t and all he is a troll that wants to start trouble.

  3. They need to worry more about all those priests banging little boys and the church covering it up. Where is the protest for this. This is a horrible crime. What a joke.

  4. wake up people. you are giving your good hard earned money to scam artists like huckabee and oilstone, these guys could not care less about you. they only care about your money. spend your money on your kids and pets. that will be a better investment.

  5. Well, good! If 10,000 pastors die, then over 50,000 children will be spared the rape and abuse that would have come to them… DO IT! DO IT NOW! SAVE THE CHILDREN, REMOVE THE PASTORS!

  6. Lol, let them. If they are of that mindset, they missed Christ’s message entirely and have no business being pastors and living of Christ and God’s name. The only people Christ ever had a problem with was the bankers and priests selling God.

  7. So these preachers are willing to sin to stop what they think is a sin? They are sinning by judging others. They are not Christians as they claim. Christians don't wish ill on other people, they pray to God hoping God will give them an answer or help them to deal with it but they don't condemn others, they don't wish ill on others, and nobody is persecuting Christians they are persecuting themselves.

  8. Glenn Beck is full of BS, they made a similar claim that 10,000 Pastors would Immolate themselves if the Gay Marriage Law Passed. It passed and no immolation's occurred. To quote shakespeare, Beck is a man "That struts and frets his hour upon the stage. And then is heard no more: it is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing."
