Clearly, one big goal of the conservative Christian base is to one day strip women of their right to vote and confine them solely to the home.

And that’s exactly what Arizona pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church preached to his congregation in a video he uploaded to YouTube.

In this latest rant, Anderson goes full misogynist, whining about women being able to divorce their husbands, having the right to vote, and having a job outside of the home, all of which he believes only men should have the ability to do.

“You know what they mean [by women’s rights]?” Anderon asked his flock.

“The right to divorce your husband is what they mean. You know what they mean? The right to rebel and disobey your husband, the right to divorce him, the right to go out and get a job and make your own money, the right to tell him what to do, the right to go vote for our leaders as if women should have any say in how our country is run when the Bible says that “I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence”?

But it’s old-fashioned…”

Here’s the video via YouTube.

This isn’t the first time Anderson has been a total dick towards women. He once went on a rant about how women shouldn’t be allowed to read, talk, or leave the house without permission from a man. He has even demanded that women keep their mouths shut in church, which makes one wonder how any woman can stand being around this asshole.

And he is hardly the first conservative “Christian” hero to call for banning women from voting. Fake historian David Barton has also said that women should be barred from voting because the Bible says that only the head of the household should be allowed to vote on the family’s behalf, regardless of what policies or candidates the rest of the family supports.

And Republican presidential candidates, from Ted Cruz to Trump to Rubio to Kasich, haven’t exactly made it a secret that they have a general disdain for women. All of them have made it clear that women’s rights will suffer should any of them become president. And it’s because of preachers like Anderson on the Christian right that Republicans have adopted such medieval beliefs about women, which is why it is even more important than ever before that every woman in this country exercise their right to vote. Because if they don’t, they may not have that right much longer if conservatives have their way.

  1. If he was my husband I would have him commited for insanity. Does he think Women are Stupid. I THINK HE IS A NARCISSIST WOMANIZER. I have never seen where Jesus ever tried to control anyone in the bible. God never meant for Women to be slaves to men. I think every Women that gets within arms reach, should slap him in the face as hard as they can. NOT TO HURT HIM, BUT TO SLAP SOME SENSE INTO HIM. SOMETHING MY GRANDMA USE TO SAY. I think we need Sanity test for minister's. There are ministers that are teaching children with no education or background check.

    • On the contrary. Slap him to hurt him!! I turned this video about a “whackjob” off, when he mentioned the part about God doing the killing of gay people, Quickly. Wow! What a jerk. If you do go to this church and listen to this man, I hope you are not fooled by this Devil. He might even be a closet dressing She-Devil.

      • For years a far less radical message was preached by evangelicals. People believed their pastors but did not realize the church was becoming more and more radical. It always was controlled by men but as attitudes towards women changed men felt threatened and this is what the church is preaching today. Women are really not aware of what is going on. There are verses in the Bible to condone every behavior.

  2. "Clearly, one big goal of the conservative Christian base is to one day strip women of their right to vote and confine them solely to the home." Pure paranoia. I'm sure there's a nut or two like this preacher, but I've never met or known one in my life. Hitler used these same kind of generalizing lies to turn people against the Jews and you, Mr. Foster, are in that same bigoted, fear-mongering class.

    • He has a congregation. And there a lot of of these preachers all over middle America. This psycho just happens to be a little notorious. Maybe you should get out a little more. The Hitler used the tactics of people like yourself who naysaid things like this were happening. I grew up in a huge church like that. Several thousand in the church who believed this shit. Just because you haven’t seen doesn’t mean it’s there.

    • Good question. Perhaps it is men who should not be allowed to vote or to own guns. So tired of women’s rights being on the chopping block. Men never have to worry about such things. No one should have to.

    • The reason men want to keep women oppressed and silent is because they are truly aware that women are more capable, more empathetic, more intelligent, better organizers, and ultimately more spiritual than men could ever be. Those men like that pastor feel threatened and inferior!

  3. Pastor Steve Andersson is a great father and husband. He takes care of his family’s finances and his wife takes care of the children while he is at work. Think of our society for a moment. Do you see the critical state we are in? Woman working has not help us. The divorce rate is sky high and so many of our children are strong out on drugs. God made rules to help not hurt us.

    • Steve’s not following any rules handed down by any Church, Renee.

What he’s on record saying (I hasten to add it’s not “preaching”), and uploading to YouTube, has prompted, and continue to prompt, some men to abuse their wives.

    • So extremely sad to read the gp view. Pastor Anderson is sharing the word! And it should be this way. Should have stayed this way… We wouldn’t be wondering what the heck is wrong with our world!

    • Yes because of dumb women and Narcissists men like him. Control freaks. The book was written by who? God within us all. This man is a human being not God.

  4. If he is quoting from the bible as he says, why doesn’t he give the book, chapter and verse where it is located. Oh and also the version it is in. I read the New Kin.g James version and never read anything near to what he said

    • 1 Timothy 2:12. NKJV reads similarly, but Steve is a notorious KJV only cultist. He says if you’re not reading the KJV you’re not reading the bible.
In regards to his statement: Paul was writing to a specific person at a specific time, for a specific reason. Getting 21st century moral guidance from the epistles, the letters, is very dangerous for that reason. The sermon on the Mount and the teachings of Jesus should be the guide post.
The Gosple, the story which so us who the greatest of all leaders is (as in who has the answers), is that Jesus is risen from the grave, and has conquered death. This news was given, by the resurrected Lord, first and foremost to women. The women told the dudes He was alive. Jesus’s ministry was filled with women. Steve and all the other calvanists hand on to 1 Tim 2:12 bc they like power.
But the gospel is about the relinquishing of power.

  5. That quote. Used against Mary Magdalene because she upstaged him with the early church. Never came from Jesus. Many books were not chosen for the bible we all were raised at ith. Their is a we as both of other stories out there mixed in with different feelings of the ones that made the cut.
Read the Essene gospels for instance. Then thoughtfully compare.

  6. La biblia continúa haciendo estragos en occidente con su filosofía antinatural y anticuada y llena de errores tácticos. Me adhiero a quienes rechazan la religión por inoperante y castrante.

  7. To Renee, you better get your priorities straight lady, because I have been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years, you can’t just be Judging every man and woman, and neither can Anderson, We both work to make a living, and he doesn’t control me, nor do I control him we spend a lot of time together and are very happy, We don’t have children, but would have loved to. Get with the times Renee, That 1800s are over with.

  8. The very fact that you are giving this guy publicity leads me to believe you are actually for rather than against him.

    • Not really. There are a lot of these guys out there… but even more people who think there aren’t. If I’m trying to get through to people that there are roaches that need to be dealt with, I don’t not mention them… I flip over the rock.
