The Top 5 Lies Christians Believe

    Theism Sucks

I deal with Christian lies on a daily basis. These lies range from the myth that Einstein was a theist, to the claim that there is conclusive evidence for Jesus’ existence. I had to make this page so that I could collect some common lies told and present the truth behind the matter. There are hundreds of things I feel compelled to discuss but I shall limit it to a top five list.

    1. Darwin recanted on his deathbed.
This is completely fabricated and has no foundation in truth whatsoever. A woman named “Lady Hope” spoke to a church group shortly after the death of Charles Darwin. She claimed that she was at Darwin’s bedside on the day of his death. She also claimed that Darwin recanted on evolution and accepted Jesus on his deathbed. Her claims are not only unsupported, but are directly opposed by Darwin’s daughter, Henrietta. Henrietta stated “I was present at his deathbed, Lady Hope was not present during his last illness, or any illness. I believe he never even saw her, but in any case she had no influence over him in any department of thought or belief. My father never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier. I am upset that the U.S. Christians have fabricated this conversion nonsense. The whole story has no foundation whatever.” February 23, 1922.

    2. Evolution has been proven false (is only a theory).
Evolution can be divided into two parts, macro and micro. Micro evolution is a fact, where as macro evolution remains a theory due to debates on the exact steps of the evolutionary process. EVOLUTION DID HAPPEN we simply can’t trace the exact evolutionary steps of the of the 3 trillion plus species on earth. Considering there is no way that we can even prove if we have located all the species on earth, this may always remain a theory. We can prove though, beyond a doubt, that humans have evolved. We can trace it back conclusively 3.6 million years. 97% of all scientists accept evolution (so does the Catholic Church). Christians have spread lies about this excessively, they especially like to say evolution preaches that Humans evolved from monkeys. Evolution does not state that humans evolved from monkeys, that idea is completely absurd. Science states that monkeys and humans evolved from a shared forefather and are hence relatives, (all primates are) but we are in no way direct descendants of them.

    3. Atheists have no morals.
All one has to do is take a look at the American prison system. Nearly 76% of violent criminals are Christian and NO, most of these Christians did not convert after conviction, they were Christian at the time of the crime. The greatest genocides in human history stemmed from the Christian faith. If you examine secular societies in comparison to religious societies; secular societies will consistently have less crime, unemployment, corruption and more freedom, share of wealth and a higher standard of living. Nearly EVERY single advancement towards morality (I.E: ceasing native genocide, freeing the slaves and women’s suffrage) was OPPOSED by the church and Christian organizations.

    4. This United States is a country founded on Christianity.
This is nonsense. The VERY FIRST AMENDMENT of the constitution is based on the Separation of church and state. The paramount reason why the forefathers came to this country was for religious freedom. They listed it as their top goal in forming America. In fact most of the forefathers weren’t even Christian, but deist, atheist and agnostic. I could site thousands of quotes from Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Paine, etc. but I shouldn’t need to, considering the reading of the constitution is a 4th-grade curriculum requirement.

    5. There are no atheists in foxholes.
I hear this one on a weekly basis and it never ceases to amuse/disgust me. One-third of the world’s population does not believe in a deity. The largest concentration of free thinkers is found in Asia, which participated in each world war and have been feuding over territory with the surrounding regions for thousands of years (especially Japan and China). My father is an atheist and served during the Berlin Crisis. I am an atheist and though I wasn’t in a foxhole, I faced death while giving birth and I tell you that the thought about God NEVER crossed my mind when I heard my condition could be fatal. I have had the privilege to meet hundreds of atheists who served in World War 2 and the Vietnam War, each of whom sat in foxholes.

    1. I am a Christian and agree with you about a lot of what you have written above being untrue.
But what interests me is that if you think there is no truth in the Christian belief ( that God has come into his creation as Jesus Christ) why do you bother wasting your time talking about it?.
Surely there are better things to do with your time?.
“My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?”
      ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

      • David, most atheists are, to one extent or another, igtheists. That is, they maintain that the notion of 'God' (at least as this term is used in Abrahamic theism and Natural Theology) is metaphysically _incoherent_ and/or _unintelligible_, or at the very least insufficiently so to warrant (or even coherently _enable_) being bought-into, as it were. Here, see the work of George Smith, Kai Nielsen, C. B. Martin, Alasdair MacIntyre, Ron Hepburn, Matt McCormick, and many others. So if the notion of 'God' is nonsense (and pernicious nonsense, no less), then _this_ is WHY atheists seek to edify their fellow human beings and disabuse them of religious _delusions_. Plus, again, the Abrahamic religions are particularly prone to providing pretext & rationalization(s) for all sorts of mischief and atrocity(s). So, again, better to disabuse one's fellow-human beings of such both ridiculous and pernicious nonsense.

And as for C. S. Lewis's BS, here, see:

      • I’ll make you a deal, your lot dismantles the creation museum and keep creationism the f–k away from schools (unless you can come up with an actual theory of creationism and get a scientific consensus like evolution did), and remove any and all blue laws, and stop treating us like second class citizens, and we’ll stop criticizing you for it.

    2. Except the founders of America wanted to be free to practice their particular version of religion. They were not interested in freedom for anyone else. Just like now.

    3. The fig tree was a symbol of the cult of Mithras, and it was in the interest of early christians to show it used as clothing, or withered by Jesus. Mithraist's and Christians were in competition for believers and influence. Symbols have long been used to persuade people that one religion is better than another. Mithras was also born of a virgin birth, and 3 wise men came to adore him. Priests of Mithras wore the Tonsure, celebrated rituals where they consumed the body and blood of Mithras, in the form of bread and wine. Mithras was said to have celebrated a last supper, and to have performed miracles. The followers of Mithras were promised life after death. Does any of this sound familiar? It is common for a newer fertility cult to "borrow" popular and well known symbols of an earlier cult, to reinforce their claims. Christianity is no exception, and the story of Jesus is not unique. There is no verifiable evidence that either of them ever lived.

    4. The Founders were extremely well schooled in the History of Religious Extremists' Tyranny, and the HORRORS and Atrocities inflicted on Mankind. They wanted complete SEPARATION of Religious Beliefs and practices from our Governance. The correspondence between them, The Federalist Papers, (media of the day) settles any doubt. They embedded our Constitution and Bill of Rights, in SUPERIOR Secular Principles, We MUST never lose sight of the MOST important part of our New Republic, and what made America so Unique! … We're the FIRST SECULAR NATION, that is what makes the United States GREAT already.
