How Christians Are Controlled

After doing a lot of research on Christianity, I still wonder how I ever believed in it. I’ve been an atheist for about a year. Now, I can look back and see through the control religion had on me. I used to think that religions became popular because they truly cared for their followers. Now, I know that religions become popular because they have the most control over their followers. They use several brainwashing techniques to keep their flock in line. I’m sure that many religious people have doubts about their religion, but their faith blocks them from questioning it. I remember that there were certain points where I seriously questioned the Catholic faith, but I was trapped by delusion. Here are some of the things I’ve noticed about how religion controls their followers.

Parents: Before we are even born we have no choice but to follow our parent’s religion. Parents bring us up before we can even reason, and force us to follow their faith. This is how it all starts. Parents are told that they will go to Hell if they don’t believe. It’s only natural for a parent to care for their children, so they bring them up into the faith as well. This is why religion continues on and on, because our parents were told by their parents and their parents were told by their parents.

Baptism: Baptism isn’t in all religions, but several Christian branches follow Baptism. Baptism is the belief that infants should be cleansed with holy water. If they’re not, their all loving God will send them to Hell. Baptism is the start of the brainwashing process. Parents want to see their children in Heaven, so they baptize their kids young.

Another process in the Catholic faith is confirmation. This is where a person “chooses” to join the church. Except, that it’s not really a choice. By the time you reach this age, you’re already brainwashed. The Catholic Church just makes you think you have a choice.

Original Sin: This is a doctrine which states that we are worthy of hellfire. We are so bad, that we don’t deserve to go to Heaven. We are so bad, that God had to send his only to son to die for us. Original sin is a very important tool that Christianity uses for control. Christianity is built upon the fact that Jesus came to die for our sins. Christians have such a negative view of themselves that they think they need some Jesus guy to send them to Heaven. If they don’t repent and be saved, they have a one way ticket to Hell.

Hell: We’ve all heard Christians preach to us before. When people come up to us, they will talk about how good their God is. Except, they usually leave out one little part, Hell. Hell is another important part of Christianity. Once they drill into our minds that we are horrible sinners, convincing us of Hell is easy. Many of us have had doubts about Christianity, but fear is a very powerful emotion. We are brought up with detailed images of Hell that are contained throughout the Bible. Hell is a place where demons torture us for eternity. You think Texas is hot during the summer, wait till you get to Hell. Not only is it hot, but there is also a lake of fire. Hell is a place for: atheists, people of other religions, and murderers. No wonder why Christians are terrified to lose their belief.

The 11th Commandment, thou Shalt Not Question: I remember going to church where a priest gave a sermon about doubt. He said that having doubts is fine, but if it causes you to lose faith in Jesus, then it’s a sin. And we all know that sin sends us to Hell. He basically implied, don’t doubt, or you’ll go to Hell. Christians always look at people from other religions and say they’re brainwashed, but refuse to look at their own religion. Priests aren’t going to say, “I’m going to brainwash you.” Christians don’t seem to get that brainwashing occurs through subliminal messaging.

Sexual Guilt: In my opinion, this has to be the second biggest control factor. Everyone has sexual urges. If you can’t control your urges, you have them for life. Jesus says that lust is the same as adultery. Christianity constantly demonizes sex and says that you should wait till marriage. Even in marriage, there are still rules about sex you have to follow.

The Catholic Church teaches that masturbating is a mortal sin which will send you to Hell. They know that masturbating is impossible to stop, but they still make it a sin anyways. Teenagers are forced to go to confession and tell a perverted old man that they masturbate. I love how Catholics worship the Virgin Mary, which is another control factor. This says that the Virgin Mary was chosen by God to conceive Christ. So, you should all be virgins and wait for marriage!

Church: I’m still a closet atheist, so I still go to church when I’m with my parents. When I go, I’m amazed at all of the manipulation that goes on. Churches are the perfect way to separate people from the real world. A church is used to make people think they’re feeling Jesus. At church, several techniques are used. This includes: incense, candles, dim lighting, and music. All of these things make church feel like a special place and that we are experiencing God. Music is a key tool. Most of the songs are about us being horrible people and how we need saving. Even Amazing Grace says the words, “Saved a wretch like me.” If you hear a lie long enough, you begin to believe it.

Bashing Secular Society: At another sermon I went to the priest bashed secular society. Any wonder why Christians have a negative view of the outside world? They’re told that the world is full of sin. If anything bad happens, it must be a sign of the end times. I’ve heard constantly that we must be of the world, but not part of it. The priest’s sermon made me furious. This usually doesn’t happen, but I clenched my fist during it. This propaganda creates an in group out group. Christians feel like they’re special, while treating atheists badly.

In order to break free from the cult of Christianity, one must understand the control factors behind it. This control starts when Christians are very young, and continues throughout their lifetime. Doubts may occur throughout their lives, but Christianity has plenty of fail safes to stop them. Atheists need to have patience when trying to bring Christians to our side. Hopefully, Christians will eventually see the light of reason, and lead a more fulfilling life.

  1. I feel sadness for you and your very shallow Christian experience. Christianity is based on the faith on the words and deeds and prophecies of Jesus not on men's doctrines and interpretations of scripture. It takes more faith to be an aeithiest. Personnel I had no such experiences I became a Christian after a supernatural experience while meditating on John 3.3. Age 30. And I don't believe in the traditionally taught hell.

    • Actually, as an atheist (for almost forty years now), it takes no faith to be one. It simply takes logic, critical thinking & knowledge. Believing in the superstitions & fairy tales of a bunch of Middle Eastern goat herders, (be they Islam, Jewish, or Christians), from thousands of years ago requires faith. Unquestioning, blind & ignorant faith.

    • john, xtianity (as well as all other religions) are just lies… made up to explain the world, and then kept and used to control people, just as it is said in this article… and it is so sad that zillions of people around the world can not break free of those molesters… religions disprove each other in return… and none of them has the convincing arguments to demonstrate that it is the right one (except "arguments" described in this article)… but, enjoy, everybody has the right to believe whatever s/he likes…

  2. dear Beinghuman,

you are completely right… they are just ugly mindcontrollers… trying to get as much flock and as much power and as much gold as possible… and then as much kids to molest… disgusting people, them xtians and their church…

  3. No people are not free to believe whatever he or she likes. It takes a great amount of overarching structure to create a bubble, which we are in, that allows us to be free here in this country. But that was not the case without a huge fight as I'm sure you know and we may lose that privilege and the current political regime and have to fight for it again. So while I enjoy your comments otherwise let's not be glib about the reality here.

  4. I am also a closeted atheist. I am 55 yo and grew up in a protestant church, attended bible college, taught Sunday school, children’s church (no longer thank god) and raising my daughter’s in the Catholic Church while attending catholic school. I lost faith years ago and everything you wrote applied and resonated with me. It would be worse than a divorce, to come out and tell everyone that I reject everything that is being taught and preached. Oddly, I still find church as a time that I can quietly meditate. Yeah, I feel like a hypocrite, but I am at least clear headed while knowing, I am not alone.

    • Mike, I finally became disgusted with the hypocrisy and control through fear and intimidation 52 years ago. About 3 years later, I had 4 major psychic experiences that gave me a thirst for knowledge and personal quest for real knowledge of the spiritual realm. I dedicated about 25 years to that search, but I continue to learn more. The biggest ephiphany I've had is how much bigger and grander all-that-is actually is! The church has crammed it into an incredibly tiny box. What is, and what is possible, is so much MORE than the church says. I do not believe that their is a separate "God," a big daddy in the sky, so to speak, but rather ONE, and we are all part of that one, and that one is part of all of us. WE, as the ONE, created all of this, and it is amazingly complex.

What I encountered about 6 years into my journey was the school of Actualism. It was created by Russell Paul Schofield to bring the core teachings of mystery schools from around the world to a western mindset. The refreshing thing wa he challenged us to not take his teachings at face value and believe them, but rather presented what he and the students and teachers of Actualism had EXPERIENCED thus far. Yes, this is suggestive and does present expectations, however, during each session, we reported our own individual experiences, and often we had problems finding the right words to express what we felt. Then, someone else would express their experience and we'd have an "aha!" moment. They'd found words that better describe it. Because there had been several before me, generally what was presented as "here's what you can expect" rang true overall, BUT, on occasion we found that something was off either a little bit or a lot. Our input changed how it was presented in the future.

In particular, the first four tools at http://www.actualism.org/tools.html, when used together to start your day, will give you a fresh new look at the world, the higher spiritual realms, and open up doors to a MUCH larger all-that-is to anyone willing to expand their awareness beyond the 4 dimensions of time-space.

    • Such as many other people that have been raised in a cult. It is imbedded into your head, and no amount of reasoning can overcome the fear they have instilled in you! You’re not the only one! Keep searching, the truth is right in front of your face if you choose to accept it!

  5. Confirmation in the Catholic Church is done when you are in 8th grade ish. You are not making a choice, except to please your parents.

  6. ALL of us, we are Atheists. The ones that does not believe in any god, also the ones that believe in some god, BECAUSE in reality there is no god, so the believers are also Atheists, they just do not know it.

  7. Everyone will die one day. Then and only then will all the atheists find out for sure if there is a one and only God. May He have mercy on your souls then… Also, there is a difference between Catholics and Christians. I am sure that being an atheists, this would be confusing.

    • LOL… There is no hope for you! You have drinken the Kool-aid. Once religion is 100% understood as only ancient myth and folklore, and the master manipulators can no longer fill thier pockets with the money of the scared, then and only then will the Earth even remotely have a chance to live in ☮️!

  8. If you believe in confession to a roman catholic priest. He, is supposed to be another Christ that is false there is only one Christ.

  9. Child abuse

"Do you support presenting unsupported, extraordinary religious claims – eternal torture, talking donkeys and bushes, unicorns, living in a whale stomach, virgin birth, resurrection, infallibility, invisible, surveilling angels, an invisible boogeyman living at the center of the Earth, etc – as truth to impressionable children at their most credulous, imaginative time of life, when they have not yet developed the critical thinking skills, experience or brain physiology necessary to judge truth? If the official Catholic doctrine for the age of reason – when someone is able to discern right and wrong – is seven years old, why do churches begin religious education at age three? Is it moral for Muslims to lie to children about very serious things? Is it moral for Christians to lie to children about very serious things?

Do you support telling children stories of parents willing to murder their children at Yahweh's request or eating their children (dt 28:53, lam 4:10, ezek 5:10), or claims that a child's friends of other faiths will be tortured for eternity because they never had some water splashed on their foreheads as babies? Do you consider terrifying children to be a form of child abuse?

Do you think religion would exist today if it were not presented to people as children? Why do you think that Hitler made his Nazi training camps for children?" https://www.stopindoctrination.org#child-abuse
