Kirk Cameron To Women: Your Life Purpose Is To Please Your Husband

Kirk Cameron.
Kirk Cameron.

If you’re a woman you’re going to want to deck this guy for what he just said.

During an interview with the Christian Post this week, evangelist Kirk Cameron said that no matter how wives are treated by their husbands they should be submissive and stay in the marriage because God commands it.

“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” Cameron said before claiming that women should know their role so that the marriage can succeed. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”

In other words, even if she is being beaten daily by her husband and treated like a slave, a wife should always remain submissive and basically let her husband do whatever they want without consequence. And it’s all because the Bible says so according to Cameron.

“A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions,” he said. “And, we find them right there in God’s word.”

Seriously. This is the “advice” Cameron has for women.

Someone should call Cameron’s wife and make sure she is okay because the former child actor clearly thinks domestic violence is something wives should just ignore instead of saving themselves and getting out of the marriage.

Cameron is, of course, part of the conservative Christian fundamentalist movement which repeatedly preaches that women are nothing more than common house slaves meant to cook, clean, raise children, and talk only when their husbands give them permission to do so.

Just take pastor Steven Anderson for instance.

In February, Anderson posted a sermon in which he preached that women should be banned from voting, barred from seeking divorce, prevented from entering the workforce, and ought to be confined to the home where they are submissive to their husbands.

“The right to divorce your husband is what they mean. You know what they mean? The right to rebel and disobey your husband, the right to divorce him, the right to go out and get a job and make your own money, the right to tell him what to do, the right to go vote for our leaders as if women should have any say in how our country is run when the Bible says that “I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.””

Here’s the video via YouTube:

Two years earlier, Anderson demanded that women shut their mouths in church so that the men could teach them. You have to wonder if Cameron believes that, too.

Anderson has also preached that women shouldn’t be allowed to talk, read, or leave the house.

Basically, if conservative Christians like Steven Anderson or Kirk Cameron had their way women would be forbidden to have lives outside of the home and would be under the boot heel of their husbands day in and day out without a say in the matter. And just think, many Republican lawmakers agree with them.

It’s a scary thought that should spur women across the country to use their right to vote to put men like Cameron and Anderson in their place.

  1. I followed the link and read the entirety of the original interview. It’s not good, but not nearly as bad as this article made it seem. My main problem with what he said is that like many privileged Christians, he completely ignores the possibility of abuse. He seems to think that all marriages are made up of two good people trying to make it work. And that’s not true. Sometimes one person is not willing to make it work, sometimes one person is abusive or toxic and completely unwilling to change. And it’s impossible for one person to save a marriage. It takes two. And i don’t believe it is God’s heart for someone to stay in a marriage where they are being abused, are unsafe and unloved, or where the marriage is a lie. Sometimes a marriage is irretrievably broken, because one party refuses to change, and a divorce is simply admitting the truth. And as for his sister’s quotes in this article… she’s pretty much describing an egalitarian marriage, but using (triggering) fundy language to make it seem complementarian. I have a theory that all truly healthy marriages are egal, even if they say they are comp and truly think they are comp.

  2. It’s elementary, my dear Watson. The Bible is misunderstood and religion is twisted and Cameron is a good example of that.

  3. Fundamentalist religions are specifically designed to serve the incel. Weak, unappealing man-children like Cameron who cannot sustain relationships with women or an erection unless they have them trapped beneath their bootheel—all while pretending to have the weight and authority of a mythical being behind them.

  4. This misogynistic nonsense must end. This archsic enslavement of the feminine never should have happened. We all know the bible was written by MEN, not God. We have all learned from the past experiences of humanity that Male leadership destroys everything, including the planet. It’s time for change.

  5. Who does he think he is women were not put on this Earth to just submit to their husbands I don’t care what he says there’s going to be a lot of women that want to Deck the guy really so we’re supposed to get beaten on a daily basis but yet we’re supposed to submit and do whatever they want I don’t think so

  6. Kirk! Go sit your old looking a** down somewhere!
You were cool back in the day but now your a** is crazy! Ain't nobody listening to you except your dumba** wife! I can't stand you or your fake a** sister.

  7. Hello
This man is confused. He has a foot in different ‘worlds’, his hands tired up, his senses which define themselves with fear and the intentional and he lives a misguided application of the capital sins as glorifications – a very good example of the prisoner whose pelerinage is shallow, shallow, sha-ha-low.

  8. Firat off Gay bottom boy women are not your slaves because you married them, and also stop loving your life after one book that was written by a man (NOT GOD). Also if your gonna follow the bible kirk cameron do you make your wife get a hotel or do you make her camp out in the tool shed in the back yard when she is surfing the Crimson Wave or whe Aunt Flow comes for a visit? I know it says something about it in Laviticus i believe. Also lets hope your not wearing any clothes with mixed fibers either.
