Conservative Christian Pastor Calls for Executing All Gay People by Christmas Day

This post by Stephen D. Foster Jr. originally appeared at Addicting Info.

Pastor Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Arizona.

It sounds like a sermon that would be delivered in Uganda, but it’s actually from the mouth of an American pastor in Arizona.

Conservative Christian Pastor Steven Anderson openly called for executing every gay person in America during a Sunday sermon at his church in Tempe, Arizona. He claimed from the pulpit that gays need to be put to death in the name of God by Christmas Day in an effort to wipe out AIDS, even though AIDS is not a virus exclusive to the LGBT community. Anderson opined:

Turn to Leviticus 20:13, because I actually discovered the cure for AIDS. If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.

In addition, Anderson went on a hateful tirade about how gay people will never be allowed to step foot inside his church.

“No homos will ever be allowed in this church as long as I am pastor here,” Anderson declared. “Never! Say ‘You’re crazy.’ No, you’re crazy if you think that there’s something wrong with my ‘no homo’ policy.”

Slowly but surely, conservatives are becoming more extreme in their anti-gay views. So much so, that some are now willing to endorse genocide in the name of God in a desperate bid to force their agenda of hate upon the nation. Despite the fact that the Constitution is the law of the land, conservative Christians like Anderson want to replace that document with the Bible.

The mass extermination of an entire group people is something the Nazis would be applauding. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, conservatives are acting just like the Nazis did in Germany, from claims that homosexuality is a sign of the decay of the nation, to claiming that it’s a disease that can be “cured,” to calling for killing gay people.

Many in Germany regarded the Weimar Republic’s toleration of homosexuals as a sign of Germany’s decadence. The Nazis posed as moral crusaders who wanted to stamp out the “vice” of homosexuality from Germany…

Because some Nazis believed homosexuality was a sickness that could be cured, they designed policies to “cure” homosexuals of their “disease” through humiliation and hard work.

Thousands of gay people died in concentration camps under Nazi rule.

It sounds like Anderson is one of those who are posing as a “moral crusader” to push their hateful anti-gay agenda. And yet, conservatives have the nerve to compare liberals to the Nazis. If we continue to stand by and allow conservatives to take power in the United States, we may discover to our horror that similar Nazi anti-gay policies have been established under the cloak of religion.

  1. This guy is completely unaware of the central message of the New Testament and Christ. I am a Lutheran and I follow Buddhist ethics. Both faiths emphasize not judging others and allowing others to pursue their own spiritual paths. This guy gives all people of faith, especially Christianity a bad name. But I believe we reap what we sow and he’s paving his own path to hell. I’ll pray for his enlightenment as God would have us do

  2. That´s quite shocking. How someone can spread hatred like that and is still on the loose? That´s so bad for the USA image abroad. It looks like Uganda, Iran, and similar countries.

  3. Thinks he can appropriately interpret works that were written in another period of time that he cannot even portend to understand. If he takes what is written in Leviticus literally, why does he only focus on this one section that he thinks says that homosexuality is a criminal act (it doesn't), while disregarding everything else said in Leviticus that our society, as a whole, disregards? Accordingly, we would all be criminals! Cherry picking the bible and using faulty interpretation to meet your agenda is hypocrisy! That this man would deny that his own children could be homosexual (something he could not control and may not even know) and then disown them and wish them, along with all other homosexuals, to die for the sake of his "beliefs" is outrageous!!! This kind of indoctrination of "Christianity" is a scourge on our society, as bad as radical militant "Muslims" who believe that their holy book justifies a "holy" war on non-believers. Due to radical ideas about anyone's religion, this world is going mad!!!

  4. Where in the KJV does it call for the killing of "homosexuals"? In the KJV Matthew 7:1-2 it DOES say "1-Judge not, that ye not be judged. 2-For with what judgement ye judge: Ye mete it shall be measured to you again." So this pastor is DISOBEYING Jesus here! What a hypocrite!

  5. Well, I suppose that makes us lesbians God’s chosen people, since we’re the least likely to contract AIDS. It’s only logical.

  6. Pastor Steven Anderson is NOT a Christian. The Christian part of the bible starts with The Gospels. The first Gospel is St Matthew.
Matthew 22:35-40 contains the only two Christian Commandments, from Jesus Himself. The first is to love God. The second is to “love your neighbour as yourself”.
The second Gospel is St Mark 12:28-34 where he also repeats Christ’s words.

They are paraphrased from the Jewish Torah because Jesus was a Jew and studied for years under Rabbis. These two are the only commandments Jesus gave and are tenets on which Christianity is founded. Pastor Steven Anderson is NOT a Christian. If he preaches hatred, he suborns terrorism.

  7. The headline is wrong: by no definition is this man or his church Christian. More accurate to say ‘A leader of the Evangelical Taliban calls for…’

  8. Steven Anderson is a KJV Only guy. He rejects a lot of what Orthodox Christianity is. I don’t think Anderson knows what a real Christian is. He definitely doesn’t produce the fruit of a Christian.

  9. This guy is about as far from the spirit of jesus Christ as it’s possible to get. The word ‘antichrist’ comes to my mind – which is not some political individual that loons like him disagree with. As a concept it’s been hijacked by loons. But the kind of hatred and anger that’s spilling out from him is the opposite of the love of God shown to us in Jesus Christ. Whatever you think about sexual morality.

  10. As Christians, we believe the word of God. However,
We are not instructed to stone or hurt anyone. The old dispensation was deep and mysterious, and I shan’t comment further; for now. However, a part of God’s Covenant with believers is call sin by its rightful name,

The homosexuals have chosen such a lifestyle, and as one who is afforded freedom choice, and he or she have made their choice. They are therefore answerable to God, and man.

    • They are Not answerable to man only God. And who made you God??? Are you so free of sin that you are in a position to judge anyone else? Maybe you should take the beam from your own eye before you take the splinter From someone else’s.
Didn’t Jesus say to the woman accused of adultery “has no one condemned you? Then neither do I condemn you,”.

  11. What happened to Love thy neighbour? Jesus’ 2nd Commandment and, he didn’t add any qualifiers, Love thy neighbour except the Adulterer, Apostate, those of a different creed, colour or gender. So, Pastor follow the Commandment Love Thy Neighbour & leave the judging to someone better qualified – God. Amen.

  12. Where? Leviticus 20:13. The reference was right there in the article. Anderson is an appalling arsehole but you can’t claim that the Bible doesn’t say what it clearly says. You also can’t play the ‘judge not’ card: this is not Anderson judging. According to the Bible, this is Jehovah’s judgement and instruction on sentencing. ‘Judge not’ therefore does not apply.
