The evidence is clear and has been for some time that human life on Earth is under huge pressure, getting worse daily.
One critical piece of danger is the behavior of our polar ice caps as NOVA has told us about the findings in the Arctic in a recent US and Russian led study.
The spate of unusual weather events everywhere, which this report and others can be proven to be related, the shrinking of the ice cap in Arctica has already drastically changed weather patterns worldwide. Read the NOVA story, entitled ‘Arctic Drift’ Review: In Search Of Cold, Hard Facts, partly covered here.

Meanwhile, the US Congress, absent any constructive input from one of our two governing political parties, dithers about taking significant action on climate, so as the elected members of the GOP believe, we don’t spend too much money on our survival!
What if we did undertake a major climate effort? Such major leadership might encourage the other major polluters around the world to join us.
That would up the odds of our dubious prospects for saving habitable life, as the number of uneducated, poor and desperate people on Earth keeps increasing.
As for the aspirant non governing party, the GOP, led by visionless Mitch and ring kisser Kevin who want the power of re-election more than retaining a working democracy, they are clearly incapable of understanding (as too many others are) of understanding the future of a world whose human numbers have increased four times in my 90 year lifetime from 2 billion to nearly 8 billion.

My very much “woke” relative recently emailed me her despairing analysis, which you can read here, which strongly echoes my own:
Our nation’s situation and the slow chipping away & destruction of our democracy have become so disheartening, so negative, so frightening that many former politically savvy individuals are so turned off right now, so dismayed & discouraged that choosing not to watch the news in order to maintain one’s sanity has become the day-by-day reality.
It all seems so overwhelmingly apocalyptic.
Yes, we can protest, write, support political candidates whose views reflect ours–but once elected look at what they and we face in terms of governing.
Climate Change
Trumpism
Racism
The Pandemic and those to come
Wildfires, Hurricanes, Floods
Sexism
Inequitable distribution of wealth
Poverty
480 million refugees worldwide….and on and on….
And nothing the media reports, or the countless warnings from reputable scientists, or what the evidence of history amassed by many respected scholars of social commentary tells us, seems to rouse the sleeping masses and sadly most of the world’s leaders to the facts of what has happened and will very soon happen to make life on Earth increasingly uninhabitable.
Whatever one thinks of Mr Biden, the comparison to his immediate predecessor, who would bring us a new version of authoritarianism, seems to have eluded the understanding or the willingness to act of too many of our citizens.
