Some years ago, my wife and I visited the Hiroshima WWII Museum and learned of the power of the atomic bomb called Little Boy dropped on that city in 1945.
Advances on nuclear bomb making since then dwarf the destructive power of Little Boy as you can read here.

As Putin just fired an ICBM and put his nuclear weapons on alert to launch. The Washington Post’s front page April 21 headlines read “Putin wields ICBM test as a warning” with the sub headline “Think Twice” He Says To Enemies”.
While our experts minimize this ICBM threat-read—nuclear war threats should never stop our pursuit of those who like Putin or Kimm, the latter often talking about rockets that can reach the US.
Here a key quote from that article which you can read in full below:
“Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters Wednesday that the United States did not consider the weapon a threat to Washington or its allies. Defense policy and strategy scholars told The Washington Post that although the weapon sounds intimidating, the escalating threats Putin has made since his unprovoked Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine should be more concerning.”

So, it is now time as rapidly as possible as the new Russian offence begins, to keep arming as fast as possible our Ukrainian heroes who confront Putin and who will beat him, albeit at horrible cost to them and tangentially to the entire world.
That is my point! Putin’s actions are holding the world hostage! It will be far easier to face his nuclear threats sooner than later. Now is the time to press ahead, to show courage but also insights, and from all I can read that seems to be the stance the Biden government is taking.
Our military claims its ability to defend against rocket attacks and we can only hope none are coming, but to be intimidated is not an option.
Now or soon will come the moment of truth for the world! To call Putin’s bluff or not.
The implications of not calling him are more untenable than calling him!
His version of the future now must be recognized as likely unacceptable as is our and the world’s standing down.
Frightening as Putin’s threats are, although too many Americans seem more worried about $6 gas or thousands of other minor reasons, Putin’s threats will only continue to escalate if unaddressed by our continuing arming of Ukraine now which the Biden Administration has made clearer by sending US Secretary of State Blinken and Defense Secretary Austin to meet Ukraine President Zelensky.
Some like Chairman of the Joint Chief Milley think some deal with Putin is better as the future will be hard with the full weight of the Russian military behind it.
Biden is willing to discuss that avenue. Read here.

I have very mixed views on trying to deal with Putin, who will cheat on any deal made.
A madman might consider world suicide as an option, but that has been a possibility ever since the bombs that desecrated Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At some time before now, we could have faced that test and now will face that test and thus need to ensure a strong missile defense now, if one does not already exist as implied in the article cited above.
As this period of distress evolves, at my age of 91, I find a bit of good-natured levity helpful and thus suggest you listen to an old favorite of mine here.
