Dear Time Editors:
Re: “The Looming Food Crisis” by Scott Irwin, Time, page 25, April 25, 2022
Irwin wrote, “This does not bode well for the well-being of millions of people around the world, or political stability in many less-developed nations….”
What don’t the Time editors understand about the “looming fact” that the United States remains on course to add 100,000,000 people, net gain, by 2050? What don’t you editors understand about the fact that the number of humans will be 9.8 billion by midcentury? Don’t you find it interesting that you publish such a crisis story, but you fail to give the entire description in order to educate readers as to what their children face. Whether it’s Ukraine, Canada, America, Africa, Asia or Europe, we humans overwhelm the carrying capacity of the planet as to water, energy and resources.
Yet, you continue to ignore it. What do you think your children will say about your choices when they are swimming in the current of another 100 million “resource competitors” within the United States by 2050? Have you thought about their “looming food crisis”? Why did you ignore the fact that human overpopulation stands as the greatest crisis of the 21st century?
