Source: CNBC.com. There’s no denying it: America is getting old. By 2030, the number of Americans older than 65 will have grown by 75 percent to 69 million, and 20 percent of the population will be older than 65 – compared with only 13 percent today. But what if “getting old” wasn’t really “getting old?” What if aging – at least the physical deteriorations that accompany it – was something that could be prevented?

Source: Lesswrong.com. On September 26, 1983, Soviet officer Stanislav Petrov saved the world. Three weeks earlier, Soviet interceptors had shot down a commercial jet, thinking it was on a spy mission. All 269 passengers were killed, including active U.S. senator Lawrence McDonald. President Reagan called the Soviet Union an “evil empire” in response. It was one of the most intense periods of the Cold War.

So I’m surprised to find Mark Stevenson doesn’t edit his own Wikipedia page and is therefore checking it for errors. Stevenson’s critically acclaimed debut, An Optimist’s Tour Of The Future, is a world voyage of technology with the power to change the planet, and the solutions could come sooner than you think.

The former host of Current TV, and fledgling documentary filmmaker is a force of personality and energy that is storming through the Singularity community.
