Seeing Scott Kelly’s time on that small capsule in space was seen by many as the first step in getting man to Mars from a station on the moon.
To me the main message of this feat was Scott’s warm interaction with his Soviet co-astronauts who in surviving and working together formed close human bonds of affection.
Daily reports of super power hostilities indicate the elevation of insuperable conflicts that could doom progress for survival on Planet Earth.
Population growth, pollution and global warming have been proven as disastrous to a safe future but all our present leadership seems to offer is more hate, less cooperation and less concern about the growing numbers of people here and abroad who aren’t doing well and are rushing to cross our borders legally or illegally!
Blame the Russians, the Chinese or even the democracy in India for what scientists have long told us is earth system overload and yet we press on touting endless growth on a finite planet! This scenario can’t end happily!
I would love to get Scott Kelly to tell us again on world wide tv how he and his Soviet mates look at this fallacious super power rivalry as the way to lead all of us to a safer more prosperous future!
What present US Presidential candidate could possibly lead us in the direction of more cooperation not less? To me the whole world’s future could well rest on that decision.
