UN Planetary Conference Time?

The arrival of the Coronavirus as a worldwide pandemic has put an increasing number of humans in physical jeopardy.

And we are properly focused on the urgency of containing its deadly consequences.

We can be encouraged by the some apparent rapid progress toward effective vaccines.

Predictions now are manifest about how our return to normal will be certain to a New Normal and no one knows what that will be. But those running for political office and most other voices seem anxious to assure us that we will return to a renewed happy future.

My small voice has vigorously demurred in several recent op ed articles published here on this vigorous web site.

This site has a proud and conspicuous record for its truth telling about issues the mass media so often eschews.

Be assured that an increasing number of the nearly 8 billion humans alive today know something is desperately wrong with Planet Earth.

Many of our leading scientists have offered compelling evidence that we humans in our massive consumptive impact on our earth’s resources just in my 89 years of life have assured the world of a very dangerous, depleated New Normal in the near future.

It is surely time to confront and urgently discuss what those consequences might be.

I suggest that a major U.N. Conference would be the perfect place for these key issues to be voiced?

Can we anticipate such an important leadership suggestion from Mr Trump?

How about from Mr Biden?

How about from any world leader?

Is every world leader deaf and blind?

Yet it is absolutely an immutable fact that continuing “sustainable” growth on a finite planet is suicide! And formidable scientific evidence has already placed us very near disastrous limits to growth.

And still there is no widely publicized effort for planet wide unifying action such as a major UN meeting could provide.

But our own political air is full of nasty meaningless accusations between world powers while the media thinks business as usual will get us to a great New Normal if only we can quickly get to a vaccine.

Sad this universal myopic insanity! Can anyone awaken us? Perhaps reading the attached articles could encourage such leadership but I am not optimistic.
