World leaders now can see (or can they?) where this Ukraine war could lead. The Ukrainians are not willing to cede an inch of their pre-Russian invasion territory and Putin keeps killing Ukrainians and systematically destroying their cities while millions of their women and children become refugees as their men fight the invaders.
Biden’s so-called glitch that Putin “cannot remain in power” echoed reality despite his Administration’s efforts to explain it away.
“Butcher” is no exaggeration, if you look to the devastation of Mariupol
“Putin cannot remain in power” is what we all hope
Biden may be too blunt, too soon but not wrong, as there will be only peace and stability with a democratic Russia, a Russia without Putin… pic.twitter.com/KZEUqNlGm4

No off ramp for negotiations seems apparent and next steps by the West against a nuclear power could trigger the escalation the world fears.
Having stated the obvious doesn’t offer any obvious solutions.
Escalation by Russia continues in Ukraine despite its army’s inept performance. Images of past wars’ battles such as WWI’s Verdun can’t match the nuclear implications of now!
Our species since atom bombs fell on 2 Japanese cities in WWII has never been in such a deadly nuclear cul de sac.
If by some miracle we avoid disaster, will recognition of the actions necessary to save our fragile planet cause the urgent pursuit of solutions to our climate, environment, and population growth crises?
That our tiny planet is at a crossroads doesn’t seem well enough understood, certainly by some of the blatant ideologues, who occupy top posts in our own government or if they do, they march to a felon’s drumbeat.
Sir David Attenborough offers his take on how to save our earth which you can access here.
Attenborough is one of many pioneers who have followed their opinions with the best known early book on our world situation, Our Plundered Planet, by Fairfield Osborn in 1948. You can read about Fair, with whom I once had the honor of meeting for what proved to be a delightful lunch, here.
The urgent corrections if we pursue them now could safely and peacefully bring us long term habitability on Earth. Their enablement rests on enlightened leadership which our present global educational capacity could enable its dissemination in time to avert the demise of our species. Its start could be by implementing the inexpensive yet profoundly effective of making sure Women Deserve Free Contraception, the title of a book by my son, Donald A. Collins, Jr which you can access for 99 cents on Amazon and read on your own Kindle.
