As the seamy underbelly of all the overt corruption keeps surfacing, the certainty of an Trump indictment gets closer.

Its target obviously feels no remorse for the disasters to which he has subjected every one. He knows who Numero Uno is and don’t you forget it!

In fact, NU is so certain of his control of the GOP that he hints constantly his intention to announce his run for 2nd term soon.

NU thinks the FBI need to search for stolen national security documents helped his political image as a victim with his devoted base.

What has the big lie done for them? Well, it certainly revealed the Alex Jones, Proud Boys etc. as able to sucker the intellectually fragile into believing that our revered institutions that made us the world’s greatest democracy were corrupt and working against them.

Now anyone who wants to can see those January 6th miscreants are getting charged and convicted. As Vanity Fair reports, the process has only begun.

With more of the House January 6th hearings still to come, we already know that Trump and his cronies engineered a massive nationwide web of active willing “perps” to effect blockage of the legitimate transfer of power which only the refusal to cooperate of his long time toady Vice President kept a very frightening possible coup from happening. Hooray once for you, Mr. Pence!

Now I have a few questions: Where were you Trumpers politically, emotionally, and ethically as you watched this all unfold?

What can you confirm with facts that you believe is true?
What are your sources of information?
Who or what could change your present mindset?

Some gurus say nothing will likely change the traditional midterms slump for the in party, but the anti-Trump evidence now in public view should unnerve us.

Read here however the Wall Street Journal editorial of 8/24 about the NY election results.

It opens:

Republicans in Congress pondering who will paint their committee Chair portraits might want to hold off. The long-predicted GOP “wave” election may be crashing on an offshore reef, as abortion and Donald Trump energize Democrats.

As we hear more stories of Trump inspired intimidation of opponents and actual attack at the FBI, the very agency that protects our civil rights and personal safety, thoughts of a 2nd Trump term may not appeal to a majority of all Americans, including many in his own party.

When the final act of the Trump show gets played, I personally at 91 doubt I will be around, but most Americans now living will be. What will they tell their grandchildren about where they stood in November of 2022?

Did Democrat inadvertence about the unique values of our democracy get twisted into the false stories we got from this aspirant authoritarian? Democrats now in office were and are far from offering blameless service, but they now clearly see our republic under what a terminal attack could be. Would that there were more Republicans Representatives like Liz Cheney or Adam Kirzinger, but the Trumpers threw them out.

We will find it particularly hard to erase one Trump (and Mitch McConnell) legacy, the religious dominance of our Supreme Court whose majority wants all of us to abide by their repressive beliefs and to cede our freedom to their will.

Will, for the first time in our history in the unique Dobbs decision killing Roe/Casey, the fact of the Supreme Court taking away a Constitutionally granted right from one sex, jar many voters of both sexes from their somnolence?

As US racial demography evolves in the years ahead, those who value uniform treatment of the civil rights for all of us will have to fight the existence of Trump types as we must do now, to keep our precious rule of law and the vital separation of church and state functioning for all citizens. These burgeoning tyrants are always going to be there to confront.

Beware the Trump led racists who propound the false doctrines of replacement by immigrants or minorities or the inhibiting educational restrictions of critical race theory.

One 8/25 letter which appeared on Wall Street Journal editorial page I found sadly amusing:

Why is it that Never Trumpers consider everything Donald Trump utters to be a lie, yet accept with 100% veracity and seriousness his statement that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and his supporters would still vote for him?

Fake news? You get to decide in November!
