Page one left column in the Saturday August 20th Washington Post uses that headline, “Storm Aid Is Held Up Over Abortion!” to tell us where Trump’s maddened GOP wants to take America.
Read here.
Just read these first paragraphs here:
A man pushes his bicycle through floodwaters near the Superdome in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina left much of the city underwater on Aug. 31, 2005. On Thursday, the state’s bond commission voted to temporarily block a $39 million line of credit to the city for a power station to combat flooding in an area ravaged by Hurricane Katrina until the Democratic mayor and council rescind vows to defy the state’s new abortion ban. (Eric Gay/AP)
The abortion rights battle between conservative states and their liberal cities claimed another casualty on Thursday after Louisiana state officials delayed storm aid to New Orleans even as the city faced a flood advisory and predictions of an above-average hurricane season.
I couldn’t have predicted such extremism, but here it is. Thanks, InJustices.
What happened to the patriotism of conservatives Republicans like prochoice Republican Barry Goldwater who was joined by his Senate colleagues in telling Richard Nixon it was time to go?
The present GOP senators had two chances to exit this neo-Nazi and joined their obsequious House colleagues in completely failing in upholding their oaths of office to stand up and say to this felon enough!!
Now we had January 6th and our democracy is headed where?
After evidence revealed secret documents were illegally taken to Mar-a-Lago and were recovered after a federal judge reviewed the threat and approved the warrant, Trump now attacks our loyal FBI with statements that are so akin to Hitler’s rhetoric that it should make our skin crawl. His language has provoked deep continuing threats to these loyal public servants.

And this evil lying fraudster is about to an announce that he is running for a second term. NY Times columnist David Brooks strongly predicted to Judy Woodruff on WETA on Friday August 19th that Trump would surely be the GOP’s 2024 Presidential candidate!
In fact, the GOP’s ever compliant Trump’s male doxy Minority House Speaker Kevin McCarthy immediately leaped to defend Trump as you can read here.

McCarthy is hardly alone, as this quote from the above article proves:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis attacked the Mar-a-Lago search on Twitter with similar Third World references, calling it “another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents” and adding a dig at Democrats for seeking to boost IRS enforcement to help pay for their domestic agenda.
Meanwhile our justice system, continuing to function legally and properly, is pursuing the January 6th cases where the brave police defenders of our Capitol suffered outrageous violence and managed to keep Congress man and women and their staffs from injury or death as in the case long of Trump’s loyal VP Mike Pence who the mob wanted to hang.
Now even after those House hearings on January 6th which produced evidence of Trump’s master plan to stop the transfer of power, evidence mainly provided by Republicans, the present GOP leaders—the word “leaders” hardly defines them except in a negative sense—are still backing Trump.
Read here as the legal case against one of January 6th attackers is underway.

The viciousness of the right-wing leaders who conspired with Trump and his insiders should frighten us all.
More than 840 January 6th attackers have been charged.
Read here.
As of July 18:
– 842 suspects have been federally charged in the DOJ probe of the Capitol insurrection.
– 116 defendants await sentencing after they either pleaded guilty or were convicted.
– 218 defendants have been sentenced so far. https://t.co/0WO5T0LuFf pic.twitter.com/l20QLAOuwg

But, oh, heavens, fellow citizens, gas prices are too high, inflation too bothersome to encourage us to save our democracy. Will our lunatic Trumpeters ever acknowledge that Biden’s record of real bipartisan governance which is now on full display. Now lower gas prices and our inflation now receding, are part of the worldwide phenomena, partly brought on by Putin’s Ukraine invasion.
Has a huge block of Americans gone bonkers? Putin and Xi, both in deep trouble themselves, must be musing about how our inane democracy works!
But democracy can and has worked since our founding and hopefully will continue to survive with votes from a sane majority on November 8th!
Let’s hope (and vote) that Mitch McConnell, the aspirant Senate Majority Leader, is correct when he cited the possible Democrat retention of the Senate on November 8th because of “candidate quality”.
Read here.

Then, Putin’s role in fomenting a possible nuclear disaster has the world on edge.
This nuclear threat simply adds another global warning to the long list of bad possibilities, which asks the question raised in my last book “Can Homo sapiens survive?” which daily news seems to make even more uncertain.
