After his victory speech on March 4th at the Conservative Political Action Committee meeting in Florida, Trump trumpeted his key role as America’s savior and labeled himself as the “Retribution” candidate. He also fails back on his victim status at every opportunity.

The word “retribution” means administering punishment for a prior offense—like denying his loss to Biden! The deniers are still denying and those Republicans who are running or might run seem loath to take Trump on, despite the huge public commentaries from people in his party about how Trump will not be the 2024 GOP Presidential nominee.

Vast proof of this 2020 lie, followed by his coup attempt to keep the Presidency hasn’t cost him his base which makes his nomination for 2024 possible.

That would surely mean another loss to Biden.

Trump claims he won’t step aside even if he is indicted.

Assuming the GOP can nominate a Trump clone like DeSantis or any of the other aspirants whose positions hew to Trump’s, the 40% of us who call themselves independent voters will decide this election and are surely going to consider these hard right conservative GOP positions.

Read here how crucial independent voters have become.

These voters will be constantly reminded of the central roles Mitch McConnell and Trump played in killing Roe, which has disgraced the Supreme Court for years to come. GOP efforts to keep women in many states from obtaining pills to permit early abortions will really seem repressive to people in both parties. Then as gun violence has reached higher and higher levels the GOP that didn’t approve a ban on MR 15s or raising the age for male gun buyers. Or how about its fostering of racist propaganda which promotes those false Critical Race and Replacement Theories, while its right wingers funded by dark money from people such as Leonard Leo, continued pushing to make the US a Christian nation.

While Biden’s popularity sticks at under 50% now, the funding that he managed to get from a divided Congress for vital infrastructure renewal projects will be flowing in the months ahead and Biden has said he will be at the ribbon cutting ceremonies. Biden’s bringing NATO together against Putin’s Ukraine invasion including his dramatic trip to meet Zelenskyy in Kyiv plus the progress made in corralling COVID will hopefully be remembered as will his efforts to get student loans reduced,

On immigration, certain to be a GOP attack point, despite that the issue was ignored by both parties for decades, Biden’s October 2022 announcement allowing for an orderly acceptance of Venezuelan immigrants may be a start to a resolution of this thorny dilemma at a time when we have labor shortages.

Biden relentlessly tries working across the aisle to lower the worst political division in our republic since the Civil War started in 1860! The disarray in the US House gets daily press and comments form nihilists such as Margaret Taylor Greene who goals are not governance but personal aggrandizement.

As my earlier Op Ed suggested, disaffection for the present leading candidates might produce enough incentive for some to try to start another party as occurred before the Civil War in 1856, but as the world is amidst the Ukraine War such a massive decision seems highly improbable,

In short, a large number of voters, after years of the lying, the criminal behavior of Trump and his allies, must now realize the Biden has been a very good leader, knowledgeable, honest and effective in guiding us through times the world has never seen before with environmental challenges forcing us to understand what our best scientists predict of the already started 6th Extinction accelerating in this century!

The most likely conclusion about the 2024 election is seems that the only thing which could stop Biden’s reelection in 2024 would be his untimely demise.
