The tragic murder of a 26-year-old Texas woman by her boyfriend after she had obtained an abortion in Colorado offers us an opportunity to make several observations.
Read that story here.
A 26-year-old woman from Texas was shot and killed by her boyfriend after getting an abortion in another state, Dallas police said. He was jailed on a murder charge as of Friday. https://t.co/n8d8P2Fw6t

First, how extremism nationwide has been fostered by the Supreme Court’s June 24, 2022, decision which killed Roe Casey after 50 years since the Blackman decision established a national right for women to obtain safe abortions everywhere on January 23, 1973.
Second, that ignoring of Stare decisis (precedent) based on the religious opinions of the zealous Supreme Court’s 6-3 majority members goes strongly against our founding Constitution which clearly separates religion from state actions. Where were these originalists when that happened??
Read here one of many articles making that point.
In America, we don’t need Jesus; we need the Constitution. We’re free to believe in Jesus, Vishnu, Allah or no gods at all. Church and state must remain separate so that all faiths are protected and we prevent the rise of a theocracy like Afghanistan. https://t.co/9JUYrP1BOn pic.twitter.com/yRBe6sEIw9

Third, the claim of fetal murder is as absurd as the claim there is a god which a myriad of religions has.
This article just appeared on this site, one of many exposing the vicious use of religion to control the uneducated or people fallible to fantasies, hooded under the grandeur or historic edifices or eloquent sophistry.

Fourth, religious murders of witches and other non-religious dissidents are well known but ironically dismissed by those who put their religious beliefs ahead of women’s health and rights!
Fifth, the originalists like the late Justice Antonin Scalia and others who argue that the 1791 Constitution allows for no reinterpretation apparently dismiss its 27 Amendments. That some of these Amendments, such as Prohibition, which was revoked in 1933, show flexibility as essential in treating evolving human history.
When I was 9, my grandmother, who believed in the literal word of the bible, gave me a copy with my name on the cover. In long ago rejecting its fantasies, I still have that book and remember fondly that her intentions were based on her love, not on any hope of personal gain.
How sharply different the present situation where in closing the gap between the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state, our democracy, established by mostly deist founders, finds itself captured by a majority of morally confused zealots likely to be in power on our Supreme Court for decades.
The ballot box cannot fix this extremism unless we understand how dangerous this originalism has become in allowing the forces of medieval fantasy to prevail when science is ignored as when Galileo was persecuted by the 1633 Catholic Inquisition when he proved that earth revolves around the Sun!
Read here and wonder at the culpability of so many about the integrity and validity of this institution.

Falling as we have into unbridled human growth four times in my 92 year lifetime, manic greed, religious intolerance, and racism based on fear has brought Earth to the threshold of a possible rapid 6th Extinction now widely documented but still widely ignored by too many.
Symbolically, this sad misguided boyfriend’s murder of his girlfriend again shows how the extremists have managed to push our democracy into a darkness that desperately needs moderate voices to act now to move us together to sustain the huge gains humans have achieved in the mere whisk of time homo sapiens have been here compared to Earth’s 4.5-billion-year history!
