The GOP Offers All Of Us More Tyranny In 2024!

Under the banner of freedom, the second leading GOP Presidential candidate Governor Ron DeSantis claims more of it for his constituents.

The truth seems to paint a starkly different story, starting with his vigorous embrace of an extreme abortion law that prohibits abortions after 6 weeks, before women know they are pregnant.

He happily greeted the prospect of the Dobbs decision that killed Roe on June 24, 2022.

In a speech before the Dobbs decision that killed Roe, “the Governor told reporters there is no reason for lawmakers to wait for an abortion decision from the U.S. Supreme Court. The comment came just hours after Senator Kelli Stargel introduced a bill limiting abortions to the first 15 weeks.”

As we know, this anti-choice avenue of freedom is offered by most GOP leaders nationwide.

For more about his ideas on freedom read these two articles here and here.

Another widespread “freedom” being consistently offered is the GOP’s active inaction on the murder of Americans by MR-15s mostly wielded by young men under 25. The absurdity of failing to recognize offering freedom to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment is not freedom but license which makes us the world’s most prolific killer of innocent civilians.

How about telling people what books they can read. Turns out that one author wrote about “dirty” library books might carry germs.

Read here.

But the germs of ideas that might explain different versions of our history or cultural heritage might be banned in many GOP states including Florida.

Then the matter of treatment of gay people. A February 2023 Gallup poll says 7.2 % of us identify as part of the LBGTQ community, up substantially from what it was in 2012, which suggests at least that more tolerance may be emerging which certainly won’t be advocated by the GOP.

Read here how the CDC sees the harm created by inhibiting their freedoms through hate, intimidation, intolerance.

Then of course GOP’s massive 2020 campaign to gerrymander states to create unfair voting rights for Democrats gets explained here.

Of course, a major affinity of some in the GOP is to make the US a Christian nation that also believes in Critical Race Theory emanating from white fear of replacement by minorities can be added to their above anti-freedom biases!

Trump’s legal woes make me guess that there is an outside chance selection of another GOP nominee, since Trump losing again in 2024 seems likely.

All told the issues mentioned above put in prospective the dangerous consequences of GOP policies in restricting basic freedoms in our democracy.

So, putting up DeSantis or any other GOP candidate running means substantially getting the same policies as Trump would follow, although I can’t say any or all of the others running would pardon those who stormed the Capitol on January 6th.

Perhaps more important than any of the above attacks on freedom is the statements from Trump that he doesn’t see any reason for great concern about global warming. Scientists have now proved that the world is well on track for environmental disaster in this century. The ultimate freedom for a sustainable future is now on the line.

So you can see the kind of tyranny the GOP has consistently offered in the Trump era and thus you can realize how much more could be coming in 2024!
