Chris Christie in announcing his Presidential candidacy didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know about former President Trump. That Trump is a totally self absorbed egotistical narcissist child summarized his attack.
Would that make a dint in the fealty of Trump’s MAGA base?
Not yet, but the likelihood of Trump’s loss to Biden if he is nominated could bond the presently disparate other 70% of the GOP into picking someone else.
The present people running are a mixed bag but firm on prolife and their focus on LBGTQ restriction, no action on gun control and their prior embrace of Trump does not seem to make any of them appealing to the independent voters needed to beat Biden.
Now this June 8 seven-count indictment. Trump’s attorneys and many others including some Democrats reasonate to these voices claiming that the Justice Department has weaponized its investigation for political purposes.
"Mr. Trump was charged with a total of seven counts, including willfully retaining national defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, making false statements and an obstruction of justice conspiracy, according to people familiar with the matter."https://t.co/55rAii5LsV

The weaponization drumbeat will be relentless and sadly is distracting from the main felony highlighted by the US House January 6th Committee’s investigation that Trump willfully, knowingly and actively engaged in an attempted coup to keep himself in office.
We are told that these other pending cases in NYC and Georgia won’t influence his base supporters either.
Clearly the MAGA CULT’s belief in the election fraud argument won’t be changed.
Thus the weaponization chants we will hear only buttresses Trump’s chance to be nominated.
Even a coup indictment may not change his nomination which Peggy Noonan said will finish the credibility of the GOP!
