Trump has won an unconscionable delay from the Court Trump packed with three conservative justices who can now help the MAGA GOP put a fascist President in office!!

On 2/29/24 Ruth Marcus of the Washington Post puts it more gently but exactly in her op ed entitled Supreme Court aids and abets Trump’s bid for delay, which you can read here.

This is the second time the Supreme Court has delayed Jack Smith’s urgent request to get to a trial show that all citizens are not being treated equally under the law as Trump is sadly going to prove!

You can read Smith appeal to the Supreme Court here.

Trump claimed before this current Court decision that he wouldn’t contest the immunity decision of the lower federal court but at his instruction his lawyers filed a highly sophisticate appeal to the Supreme Court–the prompt address for this document below.

Then on 2/29/24, a day that could well live in the Court’s history of improper actions it finally said, after an unnecessary and highly suspect delay, will consider the immunity case already soundly decided by the lower federal court. This delay could keep voters from knowing they are electing a felon if no decision reached until after November 5th!

This Court has already proved its capacity for evil with its Dobbs decision which killed Roe Casey after 50 years of stare decisis. As the horror stories about women’s cases of danger to their lives, Dobbs put many women back into a modern version of slavery, losing their prior national right in many states to preserve their health and privacy.

Trump’s position on so many issues buck most of all voters of all political persuations! The survival of democracy seems to be drifting into disaster!

Attorneys will endlessly argue whether the immunity question needed to be solved at the Supreme Court level, but most agree the coup case won’t be decided before Election Day.

If Trump wins a 2nd term in November, he will pardon himself in both the federal cases, the coup case, and the classified documents case.

On Wednesday February 28th author at the Cosmos Club in DC Brook Manville gave a convincing lecture on his recently published book entitled The Civic Bargain that argues that survival of our fragile democracy depends on allowing all citizens a voice in governing that avoids giving power to one person such as Trump wants.

His book may be obtained on Amazon and be read on Kindle.

Unfortunately, incisive thinking about issues which could better or even save our democracy are being drowned out by the outrageous immorality of Trump and his GOP MAGA allies.

In their 2/28/24 NY Times article by Alan Reuer entitled “Trump’s delay strategy seems to be working” can be read here.

The schedules for Donald Trump’s criminal trials are still coming into focus, but one thing seems clear: His strategy of seeking delays is paying off.

His exoneration in the hush money case would offer Trump a stellar opportunity to claim victimhood in all the undecided cases.

I applaud, amidst this welter of bad news against sustaining our democracy, Brook Manville’s optimism and his suggestions for our survival are welcome and bears careful attention, but there is a growing lack of trust in our politicians and the institutions of government at every level.

If we can’t come to a Civic Bargain, we will lose our democracy to powerful anti-freedom leaders who will emulate the numerous dictatorships now extant around the world!

The oft stated legal maxim certainly applies here: Justice delayed is justice denied!

Trump just got a huge boost to his reelection chances!!
