Watching the increase in GOP actions and the insane ranting of its certain Presidential nominee, puzzlement over how Trump could win in November seems implausible.

After all the House GOP’s refusal to pass the consensus immigration because Trump ordered House Speaker Mike Johnson to take no action. Trump can now bludgeon Biden. The non governing House with Speaker Johnson has shown its dangerous inability to allow urgent help to go to Ukraine.

Biden’s first term has been considered successful by many knowledgeable observers and yet his ratings remain under 40% and Trump’s slightly higher.

How could such an anomaly be?

Simple. The long-term effects on poorer Americans of the wealth gap because of the relentless unwillingness of our super rich to pay the taxes which would have kept our national debt from ballooning from about $6 trillion in 2000 to over $33 trillion now and slated to go higher and higher!

Both parties are to blame for failing to deliver tax increases on the vastly larger and richer number of billionaires from 66 in 1990 to 614 in 2020!

Read the billionaire numbers here.

Trump’s tax cut on corporations from 35% to 21% and then added $8 trillion to our national debt in his term, so how could he possibly benefit electorally!

Because the wealth gap hits our poorest first!

Then the spike in prices in Biden’s term from the COVID pandemic combined to make the poorest among us think things were better under Trump.

Trump missed the immigration surge after COVID, so Biden gets blamed by the poorest for bringing in aliens to take their low wage jobs.

Then add the Evangelical Christian Nationalists who ignore the alleged teachings of Jesus so they can embrace a Trump led route to conservative goals against choice–two hypocrites working together!

Biden’s case for reelection is strong, but his vital point about saving democracy gets undercut by the wealth gap!

Issues such as choice, racism, guns, climate and preserving our key role in international issues could all go a glimmering in the unfixed gap which could cost us the balance of power among all citizens to keep all power divided and handed in November to Trump and authoritarians!
