A unique moment in American history to have a former President undergoing a criminal trial, which an April 17 NY Times story by Jess Bidgood entitled “Is Trump’s Trial Really About ‘Hush Money’?”.

We have watched for years Trump attempting to intimidate anyone who would question his views many times!

In fact, we know Trump has incited his followers to violence on many occasions including GOP Congress members in the US House who were personally intimidated and failed to stand up, fearing for themselves or their families or the prospect of losing their seats in Congress.

Now however the jury for his Porn Queen trial has been selected so even Trump’s expensive lawyers can’t save him from looking like a pouting little boy caught with his hand in the forbidden cookie jar.

Who can he intimidate now? The jurors of course despite attempts to keep that from happening. And dangerously an increasing number of the Proud Boy types who often are motivated by his language.

However, Trump’s goal to gain reelection at any cost is now affected by this unique scene in a dingy NY courtroom. He can’t control this venue nor the circumstances of his being there.

Yes, his demeanor is very instructive as it exposes the prospective dictator caught in a trap of his own making!

As I mentioned in the above article also referred to in my 4/18 op ed, Jess Bidgood’s 4/17 NY Times piece really opens the subject.

Read it in full again here.

His MAGA supporters may not see him that way, but many non MAGAs will see perhaps for the first time that Trump is like the emperor in Hans Christian Anderson’s story. Remember how after receiving numerous false accolades from his subjects about his beautiful clothes, a child in the audience of his triumphal procession says the emperor has no clothes!

Again, Jess Bidgood in her NY Times 4/15/column nails him perfectly. Read here.

Now after years of criminal behavior including vast efforts at intimidation of anyone in his way, he is required to be in court and subject to the law, but perhaps more importantly subject to the review of pundits on TV.

Don’t fail to go to the attached examples of these pundits.

Yes, humor is powerful medicine, especially when the outcome of the November election could determine the fate of our democracy!

The margin between Biden and Trump in polling has shown Trump leading in all but one swing state, but the Donald’s facial and verbal expressions may launch a few million votes for Biden or a few less votes for Trump from voters who stay at home.

There is a possible slight shift in the polls which you can read about here.

Is it becoming clear the tide has turned against Trump? Not yet and much more is needed from Biden and Harris out in the states campaigning!!

But as has been clear to many Americans already, this man is a horror story personified.

Former US Navy officer, banker and venture capitalist, Donald A. Collins, a free lance writer living in Washington, DC, has spent over 50 years working for women’s reproductive health as a board member and/or officer of numerous family planning organizations including Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Guttmacher Institute, Family Health International and Ipas. Yale under graduate, NYU MBA. He is the author of “From the Dissident Left: A Collection of Essays 2004-2013”, “Trump Becoming Macbeth: Will our democracy survive?”, “We Humans Overwhelm Our Earth: 11 or 2 Billion by 2100?”, “What Can Be Done Now to Save Habitable Life on Planet Earth?”, “Vote”, “Can Homo Sapiens Survive?”, “Will Choice and Democracy Win?”, “Can Our U.S. Survive 8 Plus Billion of Us”, “Economic Growth: A Cancer on all Earthly Life”, “On the Precipice of Political Disaster in 2024” and “Democracy at Red State Risk”.
