Earlier on May 30, 2024, the day of the historic verdict convicting former President Donald J. Trump on all 34 counts of trying to keep his behavior from voters before the 2016 election, one of the people to whom I send my op ed pieces emailed me this message:

Take me off your list.

I cannot begin to find the words to describe the despicable, disgusting abuse of the judicial system by the Democratic Party and the Biden administration. The staged press conference by Robert De Niro yesterday in front of the courthouse was the last straw. I am not interested in hearing your viewpoint on character.

The op ed which elicited this reaction was my last piece entitled “A Memorial Day Reminder About Honor And Integrity“.

I was surprised as this person is well educated and legally informed. However, I promptly replied as follows:

As you requested, I have removed your name from the list of those to whom I have been emailing my op ed pieces.

We obviously have many reasons for continuing to maintain our long-time relationship on a civil basis.

Sorry we have such widely differing views on the dire circumstances Trump has created for American democracy.

Speaking of De Niro, I note that sitting in the front row this week of the court room at Trump’s hush money trial were House Speaker Mike Johnson and number of other GOP elected officials, which to some of us seemed rather more partisan than De Niro.

Sadly, the Supreme Court has decided to delay any decision on immunity as the basis for keeping Trump’s coup trial from happening until after November 5.

Many of my pieces have featured the evidence of experts as to Trump’s pattern of fascist behavior and what he has already done in using intimidation as a primary weapon got many of those in Congress to turn the GOP over to what many believe including me that he is a felon.

Now that fact is proven by the verdict today in NYC.

Remember Teflon Don Gotti, the Mafia chief? Rudy Guiliani had a lot to do with bringing down the Mafia. To bad he lost his way and connected with Trump.

Read about both here and here.

The initial details about the conviction can be read here.

The Judge will pronounce Trump’s sentence on July 11th and the Republican National convention begins on July 15th.
