In my last OP ED, I reacted to the email from one of my readers who lambasted me for the piece in the above title.

This same reader has followed that initial email with two further questions.

Question One: Will your views change when the verdict is reversed on appeal?
Question Two: Are you still playing golf?

Here are my thoughts about those two questions.

Question One: You asked, “Will your views change when the verdict is reversed on appeal?” A hypothetical question. However, I doubt a reversal of this NYV case will ever come up because of two reasons. First, appeals will take years and will not be settled before November 5th. And if Trump is elected, he will dismiss the legal cost of pursuing that case as he pardons himself of the other 3 more serious cases.

If Biden is reelected, Trump may be tried and will certainly be convicted, but Biden may pardon him as Gerald Ford did Nixon, as a way of saying let’s move on to matters of more importance. Unlike Ford, who sought another term, but losing to Carter because of his statesmanship, Biden would have no worries about his political future.

This would leave Biden free to fix glaring problems in our democracy such as GOP gerrymandering, by seeking to eliminate the Electoral College, continuing to funding and action to resolve climate change, re-establishing choice, gun control and reaffirming our role as the leader of world democracies.

Such efforts would help restore faith in our government which has been attacked by GOP leaders since Reagan, Newt Gingrich and now Trump. Those down the rabbit hole of affection for Trump will still be serious threats to our democracy, just as Trump created Supreme Court that has failed to rule on immunity to aid Trump’s campaign while as Trump withholds support of a bi-partisan bill to reform immigration to serve his campaign.

Question Two, you asked “Are you still playing golf?” In my 94th year I still play 9 holes in a golf cart but find I worsen almost each time I tee up. I continue anyway as I still have another book to add to the eleven which I have published so far now available on Amazon and Kindle arguing as above why America better not choose Trump.

Perhaps other questions will come, and I will seek to reply. Civilly of course.
