Before beginning the issue discussed below it is worth noting the stream of continuing lies coming out of the months of Trump and his allies. On Sunday morning October 6th the article from the Washington Post you can read here gives numerous examples. Also, in yesterday’s rally in Butler Pa Elon Musk joined Trump and in his wild speech Elon, the world’s richest man, said that if Trump was not reelected this November 5th would be our last election.

While the use of the word divorce here may seem out of context since this subject seems at odds with the presidential campaign in which we have such an aggrieved example of a candidate, but of course, we can also understand that perhaps a divorce from such an odious character, would be highly preferable, than intending to stay locked in sexual relationship, which has proved so dangerous to our democracy.
I got to this conclusion in a rather curious way, which can be best explained by the fact that I have been reading a book by famed author, Malcolm Gladwell entitled BLINK, which was published some years ago in a 2005 about various interesting research that he did with people who had studied the subject of divorce and in one case had developed a very in predictive method of determining those who would be divorcing or could be divorcing and even suggesting the time frame over which such marriages would last.

The most probable reasons which lead to divorce came from the work of University of Washington psychologist John Gottman. In his in laboratory, he tested and filmed hundreds of couples in brief interviews. Then using a carefully crafted scientific revaluation method, also understand that perhaps a divorce from such an odious character, would of course be highly preferable than intending to stay locked in a relationship, which has proved so dangerous to our democracy.
The most prominent divorce researcher is a psychology professor named John Gottman at the University of Washington in Seattle who over many years developed a very in predictive method of determining those who would be divorcing or could be divorcing and even occasionally suggesting the time frame over which such marriages would last.
Gottman has successfully predicted correctly over 90 percent of the time whether such relationships would last or fail!
Turns out marriage counseling by professionals only got the right outcomes about half the time which was about the success of Gladwin when he tried using the same data available to Gottman.
Gottman’s criteria which he calls “the Four Horsemen” are defensiveness, stonewalling, criticism, and contempt with emotion most important of all is contempt.

1. The Donald retreats into defensiveness first in his claiming fraud about the 2020 election even now in 2024. Then he denies all indictments calling our entire court system as weaponized against him.
2. He is constantly stonewalling the facts or distorting them whenever possible. One example his is claiming Biden never called Georgia’s GOP Governor Brian Kemp after Helene hit which Kemp refuted saying Biden immediately called offering Kemp complete FEMA assistance and to call him anytime for further help.
3. Stonewalling on release of his tax returns and his medical record are perhaps the least of his sins except that he uses lawyering to delay all the indictments before him and succeeded in getting the main charge of planning a coup to stop Biden assuming office after Biden won in 2020 untired until after the 2024. He reacts to criticism by dismissing anyone who does and puts all his allies in Jeopardy. His violent language incites some in office and their families to possible intimidation or personal attack. Recall those two women poll workers in Georgia who testified at the House January 6th committee investigation whose lives were cruelly affected by his ally Rudy Guiliani’s false charges of ballot counting fraud.
4. The ultimate and most important Gottman criteria is the concept of contempt, which Trump expresses about every opponent, particularly his present Presidential one Kamala Harris and all Democrats who he would seek to charge with crimes if reelected. Of course, his masterpiece of contempt for our Constitutional system. His lying about everything for years has mesmerized his MAGA Republicans into taking it all as true, a situation that looms so dangerous in this election.

As Gottman says “the presence of contempt in a marriage can even predict such things as how many colds a husband and wife gets; in other words, having someone you love express contempt toward you is so stressful that it begins to affect the functioning of your immune system.” Contempt is closely related to what is discussed and contempt is about completely rejecting and excluding someone from the community. Is contempt what Trump has been able to keep hidden [from his MAGA people]???!
WILL IT NOW BE POSSIBLE THAT SOME OF MAGA GOP VOTERS COULD SHOW CONTEMPT FOR TRUMP WHEN THEY ENTER THE POLL BOOTH OR MAIL THEIR BALLOTS? NO!
But likely the polls may not now show the vast numbers of voters of all persuasions who fancy avoiding another 4 years of chaos, hate and lying!
Two of political strategist James Carville’s famous admonitions, “Winning is everything, Stupid!” And “It’s the economy, Stupid!” suggest that Harris needs to try to defuse the immigration and inflation issues to voters. However, Harris has a positive upbeat image which sharply contrasts with Trump’s increasing claims of her incompetence and pending doom will not play for many more people than the polls show.
Will the many anti-feminists, racists, or anti-Israelis swing it for Trump? I am guardedly optimistic that Harris will win, and America will divorce Trump.
