Trump’s birth control attack on world survival!

The Washington Post July 27, 2025, news article reported that the Trump administration cannot apparently be stopped from destroying $9.7 million worth of family planning supplies located in Belgium begins with these horrific facts:

The Trump administration is set to destroy a large stockpile of U.S.-funded contraceptives stored at a warehouse in Belgium, which says it has “explored all possible options to prevent the destruction.”

The family-planning supplies, which include more than 50,000 intrauterine devices, nearly 2 million doses of injectable contraceptives, nearly 900,000 implantable contraceptive devices and more than 2 million packets of oral birth control, are worth about $9.7 million, according to an internal accounting in April, The Washington Post reported.

“The State Department confirms that a preliminary decision was made to destroy certain abortifacient birth control commodities from terminated Biden-era USAID contracts,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“Only a limited number of commodities have been approved for disposal,” said the spokesperson, who spoke on the condition of anonymity under rules set by the department. “No HIV medications or condoms are being destroyed.”

Asked which of the contraceptives the State Department considered “abortifacients” — substances that induce abortions — the spokesperson did not respond.

Oral contraceptive pills, injectables, implants or IUDs are not considered abortifacients. They work by preventing conception — the creation of an embryo. Some abortion opponents argue that they could theoretically prevent an embryo from implanting in the uterine lining. But that’s not how they work.

The government of Belgium, the United Nations and humanitarian groups say they tried to stop the destruction of the contraceptives, which they say are needed in much of the developing world.

If they were distributed, Guttmacher Institute researcher Chelsea Polis said, they could provide pregnancy prevention for more than 650,000 women for up to one year and for 950,000 women for three to 10 years. The institute supports abortion rights.

I would compare the enormity of this attack as dwarfing the December 7 attack on Pearl Harbor, but more specifically forecasted by the book about women imprisonment “The Handmaiden’s Tale” which Wikipedia writes:

The Handmaid’s Tale is a futuristic dystopian novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood published in 1985. It is set in a near-future New England in a patriarchal, totalitarian theonomic state known as the Republic of Gilead, which has overthrown the United States government. Offred is the central character and narrator and one of the “Handmaids”: women who are forcibly assigned to produce children for the “Commanders”, who are the ruling class in Gilead.

The novel explores themes of powerless women in a patriarchal society, loss of female agency and individuality, suppression of reproductive rights, and the various means by which women resist and try to gain individuality and independence. Having personally joined with many others to work to provide contraceptive choice for women for over 50 years the shock of the news today exceeds any I have previously encountered, although I have observed the long fierce history attacks on birth control choices throughout that time. Killing abortion providers has occurred often and the June 2022 Supreme Court decision to kil Roe will prove mild compared to this present situation.

The unserved numbers of women worldwide including in the USA but particularly in Africa are enormous!

Among the 1.9 billion women of childbearing age (between 15 and 49) in the world in 2021 :
9% have unmet contraceptive needs
270 million women lack access to modern family planning methods.
In 2022, 874 million women worldwide, which equals 77.5% of women of childbearing age, use a modern contraceptive method, up 10 percentage points from 1990 (67%).
Every year, 74 million women living in low- and middle-income countries become pregnant as a result of accidental causes.

It will be vital to observe the reaction to this news as the media addresses the enormity of its consequences. Point: Will adequate action be taken in time to rescind this attack to save homo sapiens?

There have proved to be many bases for impeaching Trump, but never has there been a more urgent reason than this total assault on women, their families, the environment, and the acceleration of the already well started movement toward the sixth extinction as so cogently written about in Elizabeth Kolbert book of the title in 2014.

One cannot imagine the insanity of encouraging more unplanned births at a time when the world population has grown in my 94-year lifetime from 2 billion to over 8 billion enroute to one or 2 billion more by the year 2100.

Comprehensive evidence confirms that our planet’s capacity to sustain these numbers has already been well passed given present numbers.

This is not a political matter. This is a matter of Homo Sapiens survival, and it is being rammed down the throats of the world which began with Trump’s destruction of USAID. The Trump Administration has deliberately attacked all the relevant institutions that have made our progress, so astonishing from our universities to countless other entities that have created a life in America and elsewhere of unique quality!

There is now simply no choice, except for all Americans to rise and demand that their elected officials in the federal government to institute impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives, which will be confirmed in the US Senate with an indictment to remove this dangerous criminal felon immediately!

Meantime, taking a page from the humorous scenario of the movie Ocean’s Eleven, serious clandestine actions should be mounted to save these birth control and food supplies with immediate urgent heists.

July 27, 2025, will be marked in history as was December 7, 1941 as a date which required massive response not only to the immediate threat discussed above but the further proposal by the Trump DOGE department to use artificial intelligence with the goal of destroying half of our present federal laws.
