On June 10, Vice President JD Vance said that the war could end in a week or perhaps in months.
The main sticking point in the negotiations is obviously Trump’s ironclad demand that Iran must agree to eliminate its long-stated goal of attaining a nuclear weapon.
Iran was quite a distance from perfecting a nuclear weapon after Trump’s ordered attacks in March, but they still have plenty of nuclear material which could work toward such a device.

I said then and I repeat now, why not let Iran have a nuclear weapon since they would never use it because they do not want to start a war and lose the power they already have.
No wonder they were willing to negotiate a great deal with President Obama, allowing inspections.
Trump’s regret now at his stupidly tearing up that Obama deal at the behest of Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Trump promptly tore up Obama’s deal when he took office since he didn’t want the Democrats to get credit for anything. Now he’s in a dead-end situation that will likely pursue him for months as Vance suggested.
Meantime, all the wonderful conditions Trump created are aggravating poorer American voters such as affordability.
The billionaire GOP controllers obviously would like to see this solved as it opens them to the possibility of losing the Senate and the House of Representatives in the midterm elections
Meanwhile he and the experts keep saying that Iran shouldn’t have a nuclear weapon, even though North Korean dictator, Kim has had a device since a 2006.

Obviously, opening the Strait of Hormuz must be the primary outcome of negotiations since the global economy is being disrupted with the delay.
Perhaps what will happen is that the US and Iran will announce that a deal has been struck and that negotiation will continue on Iran nuclear status for a time which could easily stretch for months and that would at least be a small thing Donald Trump could barely hang his hat on.
Trump seems to have full control over the Republican Party, which continues to behave as traitors and will likely do so unless Democrats take over both houses of Congress.
