Why do MAGAs stick to Trump?

According to recent polls, Trump still has a 29% voter approval rating, which I presume is the result of his continuing hold on his core supporters the so-called MAGAs.

Let’s admit at birth that our caste (most groups particularly MAGAs) won’t go upward from their birthplace which is determined by our parents.

Also, it could logically be argued that “Race may dominate, but MAGA members initial economic status is likely more important!”

One additional factor about MAGAs is that many of them embrace religion or Christian nationalism. This of course directly relates to the power of being white.

Yes, those initial conditions would influence their attitudes but when race (their whiteness) kicks in it augments and in my view dominates and brings together those other above birth facts.

These MAGA underlying concerns have come down to them since the days of Jim Crow has also prevailed to considerable extent to this day, the possibility of blacks marrying whites has long been a primary concern. In the Jim Crow South even touching a black could cause violence and often did then.

Did Jim Crow Ku Klux Klan members see white girls are marrying black men as the ultimate crime?

Now the prospect of MAGA whites (and all whites) soon to be outnumbered by blacks and other non-whites remains a primary concern to MAGAs.

So I argue that the primary asset felt by MAGAs is their whiteness either consciously or unconsciously.

Whiteness (perhaps to varying degrees all of the other concerns note) has become their most important asset and why they stayed so committed to Donald Trump. Some MAGAs due to Trump’s current faltering may not vote in the midterms.

Regardless, the book Caste by Isabel Wilkerson Written in 2020 and updated in its paperback version to 2023, allows us to revisit our national memory which still exists today and continues to affect current behavior of poor people in the black caste more than any other non-white group. I read the audible version which also includes the 2023 updates.

Wilkerson (born 1961) an American journalist and the author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration (2010) and Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents (2020). She was the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for journalism.[1]”

Professor Wilkerson describes in arresting detail the difference in the way Germans handle remembrance of Hitler’s holocaust with monuments and numerous small individual plaques naming his victims on houses versus the 900 confederate statues (700 still standing) in the southern US to emphasize the Great Cause of defeated white southerners in the 1861 to 1865 Civil War. The Jim Crow lynchings continued into the 1930’s and violence is not over against blacks.

Racists continue to commit crimes against black people such as the February 2012 murder George Floyd in Minneapolis by a police officer named Derek Chauvin and of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in a suburban neighborhood in Stanford Florida. Zimmerman was acquitted of 2nd degree murder in July 2013. Chauvin received a prison sentence of 21 years! Are most of the ICE troops invading our cities white?

Based on her careful research and her numerous interviews with people of all races, she puts forth her thesis of stating profoundly the effects of the caste system today in the US. She cites moving examples throughout her book describing both her experience and that of all Blacks living in the US.

As famous Black American author James Baldwin (1924 to 1987) has written he was much more comfortable living in Europe rather than in the United States where racism was and still is so prevalent.

Thus, it can be argued that for people in the so-called MAGA group in many cases, perhaps even unconsciously regard their greatest asset over the years has been their whiteness or their ability to say they are better than blacks or anybody of different races because they are white even if they are not rich or well educated, but simply because they are white.

Substantial percentages of the MAGA group are white, Christian (nationalist?), antisemitic, uneducated on the Constitutional basis of our government, comfortable with absurd conspiracy theories and completely willing to follow orders from Donald Trump.

Research shows that all races are regardless of their origins are humans with the same actual brains equal to everyone. The false assumption that whites are more intellectually capable than blacks or any other race has been scientifically disproved such as false theories known as Hitler eugenics.

My main point: in looking at the composition of that MAGA group, predominantly white, its members often without a college education, generally not rising to become corporate CEOs and doubtlessly badly affected by Trump‘s bad economic policies that exacerbate affordability for them more than any other group.

The racial identity in America as I noted above makes very clear that within a decade or so there will not be a white majority in the United States.

The author of Caste after citing countless examples of how the black skin color causes heinous treatment of blacks in the US! Professor Wilkerson argues that even now some 80% of white Americans believe that they have no racism or antipathy toward blacks, but studies have shown that unconsciously they have feelings of bias which they don’t realize they have but often act on.

As we move toward the midterm elections, we can expect that the racist administration of Donald Trump will make every possible maneuver to persuade those MAGAs that everything is right in America just like he did in his last campaign. Since he has broken every promise he made
perhaps a few will break off from their bubble but there still will be the majority ready to vote for him.

From all his public statements Trump simply doesn’t care about anything except retaining some power and getting his name recognized after he is gone and every promise he has made he has broken.

So, some MAGA group members probably do not completely realize why their whiteness allows them to feel superior to those who are not. They perhaps unconsciously fear the loss cause of their whiteness in a society that is becoming increasingly diverse and populated with blacks and others with superior jobs, training, Financial well-being and recognition!!
