As I was having my 2nd cup of coffee this morning, I met a woman named Rebecca who was from El Salvador and had arrived here when she was very young and is now a U.S. citizen with two daughters.

She told me that when she was 23, she already had her two children and decided that she wanted to have a surgical sterilization in a hospital, which cost her $2000 which was a lot of money for Rebecca at the time.

Later she and her husband divorced so she her daughters up, but they who are now much much older. She looked to be about 35 and was very interested when I told her about our long history with QS which can be performed at a doctor’s office for a fraction of the cost that she paid to have a surgical sterilization and with considerably reduced risk.

Then we got talking about El Salvador, where she was from and she explained that they have a wonderful president, who’s totally committed to democracy and that the country has been doing much better as a result.

So, this was a very encouraging story and could perhaps be thought of as a model for us as we go forward and discuss the method with FDA and other countries.

Just think of that marvelous opportunity which could exist around the world if we only gave all women who requested it family planning choices of all kinds including abortion, sterilization or having their husbands have vasectomy which are very much safer than actually getting a present surgical abortion which requires hospitalization and doctor attendance and will cost a lot of money as described above.

Of course, the Trump administration is trying to cut down women’s choices and install mandatory Christianity as the religion for the nation which of course is against the strong constitutional caution of never allowing church and state to merge.

Rebecca is still practicing her religion of Roman Catholicism although she doesn’t go to church very often but she feels comfortable in that environment. She’s clearly not willing to submit to any kind of dictatorship which is such a personal and sensitive subject.
