On November 14th a friend forwarded to me this email list of humorous possible Trump actions now that he is taking power.
My friend sent this suggested caution with his email. “Re: Some interesting perspective on the Trump would-be “reich” (don’t panic)”.
All of the listed items below are offered in jest, but the reality of Trump’s actions on present serious issues is terrifying.
There is no joke that Trump seeks to cement his complete control of our government, moves which would have sounded insane until Trump’s landslide election on November 5th.
But I must say I have not panicked yet, but the key to stopping Trump’s subjection of our democracy to his authoritarian will start and rests on the courage of many in both parties but principally now on actions by the US Senate whose new Majority Leader John Thune will need to recruit other colleagues to prevent approval of the most extreme nominations. These start with Goetz as Attorney General and Robert Kennedy Jr to hear Health and Human Services.

How considering the horrific nominations Trump has made for his Cabinet and other key administrative departments, challenging all of those who his Presidency would share power to now kowtow and cede him their powers so only loyalty to him will suffice to earn his approval.
The threat this attack poses to our democracy and our Constitution and the rule of law cannot be underrated. His attacks and the chance they can succeed even in only a few instances should frighten everyone, some such as Republicans Liz Cheney and John Bolton, but any thinking American.
Here’s that jest filled email list from Substack which urges reader comments, and a book entitled Apocalypse! Many may purchase it just to confirm it’s only joking!
Donald Trump has won re-election, starting the world’s eventual descent into darkness, destruction, and despair. With the annihilation of the world as we know it now imminent, many people are wondering how the end will come.
The Babylon Bee conducted extensive research to come up with the following list of the most likely ways Trump will destroy the world:
Deporting all the illegal immigrants to Mexico, throwing the planet off-balance, resulting in a wobble that would cause the Earth to break out of its orbit around the sun and hurtle through the dark void of space: Simple science.
Ending the Department of Education, which experts say is the only thing sustaining human life on Earth: We won’t know for sure until it happens because the experts were educated under the Department of Education.
COVID-25 will break out, and Donald Trump won’t make everyone mask and social distance: Billions and billions will die.
Enacting tax cuts that will make it so everyone has more money to buy cheeseburgers, causing every human being in the world to die from heart disease: So much for making America healthy again.
Forcing all women to log their monthly periods on a government website: This will cause all cycles to synchronize, leading to hormonal women wiping out all life on the planet.
Issuing drilling permits that will instantly cause sea levels to rise 5,000 feet and drown everyone: Sadly, Al Gore was right.
Barron Trump will grow to 1,000 feet tall, eventually devouring the Earth for sustenance: A body that size requires an astronomical number of calories.
Pardoning himself upon assuming office, creating a full-blown constitutional crisis that will cause a patriotic paradox, leading to the nation being erased from existence: It’s like Back to the Future, but with politics.
Insulting extraterrestrial life with a mean tweet: Remember what the Death Star did to Alderaan? That was nothing compared to what the aliens will do. And it’s all thanks to Trump.
He’ll invade Poland, leading to the outbreak of a world war, culminating in the destruction of civilization: He’s literally Hitler, remember?
Things aren’t looking good, folks. But if you had to choose a scenario for the end of the world, which would you prefer? Let us know in the comments.

As the Trump transition evolves, voters should realize that what they voted for was not what they are going to get.
The 11/14/24 Washing Post article entitled “Trump is already testing Republicans, and some seem unwilling to defy him” is one of many telling of Congressional members willing to subscribe to anything Trump asks.
For example:
“It’s a given Trump’s going to beat us into submission,” said one House Republican.
Another major test will be Trump’s intent to nominate former congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Florida), who was under investigation by the Justice Department and the House Ethics Committee, to be attorney general. Just after Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) was voted to lead Senate Republicans, Trump announced Gaetz as his pick for attorney general.
Many of his Cabinet picks have little experience in the agencies they’ve been tapped to lead, but all have expressed deep loyalty to the president, including Fox News host Pete Hegseth for defense secretary and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii), a former Democrat who has expressed sympathies for Russian President Vladimir Putin, as the potential director of national intelligence.
Trump’s nominees will need 51 votes to be confirmed. “We got 53 members,” said Sen. Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) on Wednesday.
So far, there has been little dissent among Senate Republicans, even for Trump’s most unconventional picks. The Senate often gives deference to a president for his nominations, and with a 53-seat majority, most senators and aides surveyed believe that Trump will have the support he needs to staff his Cabinet. While there has been some consternation about Gaetz, even some of Gaetz’s foes said they are willing to look.
