NATO Allies Must Now Defend Ukraine

We columnists bring many messages for action to a broad range of key issues to our public, but no one can do it better to bring troublesome issues to the public’s attention than our comedians!

The perfect example of that was the Bill Maher Show of March 1 on CNN, which included guests, Fareed Zakaria and Rahm Emmanuel when Maher to the laughter of his guests kept showing clips of the Friday February 29, White House meeting between Zelensky, Trump and Vance.  Hearing the juvenile attacks from the President and VP and the calm precisely accurate Zelensky clearly established who was the hero and who were the villains.

If America doesn’t get the message from that program, the message will never be gotten. Now the next step is critical and here it is. The solution to the problem of supporting Ukraine must come now from our NATO allies, who can simply ask Trump to send the awaiting arms destined for Ukraine to Ukraine but say they will purchase them for Ukraine!!

In short, stop begging and start offering to buy our waiting weapons in their own self-interest since Trump is determined to give Ukraine to Putin!

This request from NATO Allies would give President Trump a very black eye, and at the same time make Putin realize that his continuing efforts will not result in Ukraine’s defeat.

Europe’s NATO allies have long known Trump is completely unreliable.

Thus an offer to buy from the US what is ready for shipment puts Trump’s perfidy on full view.

The clearly correct European NATO backers of a fair and sustainable peace now expose Trump putting the US against our historic position as a country with a long history of supporting the right of people to have freedom and safety to make a deal forced by our trader president with a equally despicable dictator on terms which the invaded country should not have to abide.

We Americans should be urgently discussing Trump’s infidelity with ourselves for allowing such a sick and dysfunctional man to attain a position as the most powerful man in the world.

So what now? Just what I wrote above. Our NATO allies in Europe will have to step up regardless of what the United States does as we seem to be completely ready to abandon our allies of 80+ years in the face of adhering to Trump’s demand for peace at any price with Putin. There seem to be no assurances of any guarantees for peace for the Ukrainians that Trump felt strongly about. In fact, Trump really doesn’t care.

Thus, the people who have the most at stake the Ukrainians and our NATO allies in Europe, most seriously contemplate a defense of Ukraine and of themselves since the traitorous Trump has yet to be outed by a gutless GOP Congress, which he currently controls.

What is really needed. The SC Senator Lindsay Graham says a new leader, but it isn’t Zelensky, but clearly it is Donald Trump and while we’re doing it, Elon Musk and JD Vance, all of whom have proved to provide one of the most disastrous inactions against American democracy and against American citizens in the history of the country.
