Trump’s tariffs are insane and retributional!!

Before deciding your opinion on this latest round of tariffs which knocked $2 trillion off market value in the US stock market in two days I strongly suggest you bring up the evidence that was presented by Fareed Zakaria on his Sunday, April 6 program on CNN.

As we are marching into the unknown no market analyst that I am listening to has been able to say with any certainty where this will all end. There was a brief rise in the market this morning when it was incorrectly assumed that Trump might delay enforcement, but it turned out to be “fake news”.

A virtually all economist disparaged, the vicious retribution type attack as stupid. Now it appears that the tech industry was expecting some relief and that is not going to be coming is uncertain.

Now we learned from Rand Paul, the senator from Kentucky that he is very unhappy with these events and I suspect other Republicans will be expressing their disgrace along with many other top corporate executives like Jamie Diamond, who are very worried about the long-term effects of this action.

In short, this president has proven that he is not only a criminal in his behavior toward the constitution in our laws, but that he is proving sublimely incompetent. Unfortunately, the prospect of broad action against him by Congress seems not to be possible at this point, but as we move forward toward the midterms, it is clear that there will be a substantial change in the composition of the Congress.

This certainly is the most consequential disruption of our democracy in my lifetime, and I believe that the unwillingness of many and the power structure to fail to stand up against this vicious president will prove historically devastating.

Particularly disturbing was the buckling of several top law firms to Trump’s threats. In one case a leading firm promised $40 million in free services to Mr. Trump with no assurance that he would not ask for more.

Continuing lack of backbone among leading people in government or the private sector will allow this untenable villain to continue his destruction of our constitutional democracy.
