We are now well acquainted with Trump’s attraction to Biden and his continuing favoring a deal, which would put Ukraine at real disadvantage and threaten our NATO allies.

That view is fully expressed in the April 21 page one article in the Wall Street Journal by Michael R Gordon and Alain Cullison which begins “Ukraine is under pressure to respond this week to a series of far-reaching Trump administration ideas for how to end the war in Ukraine by granting concessions to Russia, including potential US recognition of Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and excluding Kyiv from joining NATO.”

This attitude certainly reinforces the attacks that both Trump and Vance made on Zelensky when admonishing him on 2/28/25 in the Oval Office or not recognizing the inevitable ability of his defeat!

Trump’s stunning ambush of Zelensky again emphasizes the bias that Trump holds for a Russian victory has the basis for gaining peace in this war, which was clearly started by Russia.

You can read it here: “Trump and Vance attack Zelenskyy in remarkable Oval Office exchange”

This bias, of course, ignores the immense potential for further Ukraine incursions, which would have particularly bad effects on our NATO allies in Europe, as well as shaping the balance of power between the US, China, Russia and Europe.

One could naïvely assume that this gross incompetence in the best interest of the United States was unintentional, but ignores the long history of Trump‘s affection for the Soviet positions.

As we now review the first hundred days of Trump’s second term, the rising tide of his actions confirms his use of the extreme right-wing plan developed by the Heritage Foundation, which expands various ways in which an authoritarian government can be installed!

While these actions have been widely protested by public demonstrations, it is obvious that public demonstrations and bad polling have not in any serious way inhibited Trump from fulfilling those Heritage objectives.

So far, it appears that the only restraints on some of Trump’s outrageous attempts to deport people under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 have some effect, but are likely not to hold up in the event that Trump decides to ignore the constitutional restraints that such actions trigger.

The relentless attacks on all of the institutions which have had such significant roles in making the United States, the world’s most successful, free, and Democratic nation on earth, leave all of us under a pending cloud of disaster.
