I awoke this morning knowing that I would have to read media accounts of Trump’s triumph in gaining passage of his great big beautiful bill yesterday in the US House of Representatives when only two GOP representatives had the courage to vote no.
Rather than spending the whole day listening or reading about this event or gaining insights on what it will main, I offer the July 3 comments of James Carville and Paul Bagala here when they spoke with Anderson Cooper on CNN.
Whether or not James or Paul is correct about the fact that every time the GOP passes a bill it is aimed at reducing taxes for the rich, it is not hard to remember however that when Trump first took office in 2016 that he lowered the corporate tax rate from 37% to 21%; or to remember that the present great big, beautiful bill gives rich people a lot bigger tax breaks than anyone else.
However, if you are unsatisfied with this new legislation as apparently 1 in 2 Americans are, let me suggest an antidote which can help you enjoy the 4th of July weekend and perhaps even better than having that extra drink or taking some pills or simply feeling blue.
My suggestion? Well, I got out of bed this morning and remembered that I hadn’t heard that wonderful Aria from the Rossini opera The Barber of Seville where Figaro, the fixer of all his fellow citizen’s ills sings an Aria which has boosted my mood all my life. You can listen to this opera here.
If I am right that I lifted your mood even slightly I wonder if you would be kind enough to e-mail me at the website with your opinion? That website is: Church and State.
A contribution of any amount will be welcome and used to help continue it unique and persuasive viewpoints.
As you read the wonderful postings of others on this unique site just remember that we are so blessed to live in a beautiful country with so many good people!
Are there enough voters of all parties who think our oligarchy-controlled country needs to change. How about at the midterm elections?
