As we watch the leaders from the European Union along with Ukraine President Zelinsky gather at the White House for the afternoon on Monday August 18th their primary objective was to keep Trump from giving away Ukraine to Vladimir Putin, after their allegedly warm meeting in Alaska.
They were obviously hoping to deter a calamitous outcome by a coordinated effort to flatter Trump.
That flattery occurred can be read in these attached stories from Washing Post on August 19.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made sure to thank President Donald Trump this time around — a lot.
Zelensky thanked Trump for hosting him and other world leaders at the White House on Monday to try to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. He thanked him for introducing him to the other guests and the media. He thanked him for a “very good conversation.” And he thanked him for giving him a map of his own country.

Such a ridiculous and frightening situation so baldly exposes again and again his utter weakness. Trump is driving, not only America, but the whole world into a dangerous lobation as his efforts to dismantle democracy continue.
Now the gutless Republicans in Congress are beginning to realize the utter stupidity of allowing a much weaker Russia than Trump understands to dominate the European democracy with a deal that would simply permit Putin further attacks on Ukraine, which he personally feels he must achieve to restore his vision of the true Russia.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-South Dakota) emphasized that the Senate was prepared to impose sanctions on Russia to keep it at the negotiating table, even as Trump suggested he was no longer considering sanctions after meeting with Putin on Friday in Alaska. Other Republicans had harsher words for the Kremlin, saying the hostilities in Ukraine couldn’t end in a victory for the Russian leader.
Then Thune (the Senate Majority Leader) praised Trump on Monday in for his “dogged determination to bring peace to Ukraine and for his courage to engage with all parties,” including Putin. But he also reminded the president that the Senate “stands ready to provide … any economic leverage needed to keep Russia at the table to negotiate a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.” Thune appeared to be referring to a sanctions bill with overwhelming bipartisan support, which would give Trump the power to impose tighter sanctions on Russia if he determines that Putin is refusing to negotiate.
And yet as the Washington Post article on page one headlines “the Ukraine talks, a little movement forward“ while “Trump still rejects cease-fire”

The US and its NATO allies fail to back putting Ukraine in NATO which of course would seal Ukrainian safety.
If a ceasefire could be negotiated on August 18 on CNN Richard Haas, the retired head of the Council on Foreign Relations suggested that if a cease fire could be arranged then as in Korea, there could be nothing but an armistice that could carry on for decades as it has in Korea.
Of course, this would be unacceptable to Putin without further sanctions and pressure that Trump seems unwilling to impose. Are we are drifting into some kind of Ukrainian giveaway?? We can only hope Zelinsky and the European Union will make Trump reject this, but his love affair after Alaska foolishness seems unimpaired.
Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull:
“When you see Trump with Putin, as I have on a few occassions, he’s like the 12-year old boy that goes to high school and meets the captain of the football team. ‘My hero!’ It’s really creepy.”

Of course, there is the inability of Zelinsky to keep his country resisting since the intensity of Russian attacks mounts, which is precisely what Putin hopes will keep his war going. “Ukrainians feel wars staggering cost in children’s lives “the 8/19/25 page one Washington Post headline reads.
Obviously Republicans and all American citizens need to awaken and to recognize our democracy is being stolen and the world order is being disrupted as the USA, the world‘s most prominent democratic force, is being dismantled.
Perhaps the biggest stupidity in his vast portfolio is Trump tariff attacks on our longtime democratic ally India, which has served as a bulwark against China, and now that relationship is probably seriously ruptured.
Will Taiwan be next on the attack list? Quora headline: CHINA IS PREPARING FOR AN ALL-OUT WAR WITH WESTERN POWERS
It says
US economy is shrinking rapidly. 1 trillion dollar has literally vanished from US share market while the shocks of tarrifs war are yet to be felt by Americans. Trump is waging this tarrifs war because he believes USA’s economy hasn’t not been rightly reciprocal with its partners during the times of his predecessors. He vehemently bashed Biden and Obama for being too soft on China which has become USA’s number 1 importer, the largest manufacturer in the world. Now China seeks to strengthen its Yuan. It has been gearing up for its ambitious de-dollarization project. BRICS alliance is a solid threat to US economic monopoly.
Things have been going very badly for the superpower country. It is conceivable that US still possesses significant military edge over its adversaries, but its economy is getting badly wouned. US will not be able to afford this large expeditionary force without a strong economic monopoly. Thanks to dollar dependence of other nations and debt-driven economy, resource and expenditure have never been really a problem for the country.
However, USA has lost the manufacturing capabilities it had during WWI & WW2. China on the other hand has been very impressive in this regard. China’s space achievement is marvelous. They have released lots of high end Beidou System within very short time. Some of their positioning system is much more accurate in Asian region than that of USA, which have made Pentagon to increase the pace of its recent new generation GPS satellite launch.
China is also developing its aircraft carrier technology. Shandong class carriers are already intimidating US presence in the area. China is increasing its presence in South China Sea. Literally encircling Taiwan from all sides. In a time of war they will block Taiwan from any foreign power getting access to the island. This is undeniable and USA has not the capability to prevent such scenario.
Recently J-20 successfully flew over near Japanese airspace and radar couldn’t detect it. This indicates China is catching up to USA’s mosy cherished stealth technology. While also China is building Quantam radar capable of detecting Stealth aircrafts with crystal clear images.”
China has clearly warned USA of severe consequences if they try to meddle into their Taiwan annexation war. US military bases in Japan, Korea, Philippine, Washington will be valid targets in case of such a daring move.
China’s rise is an indelible phenomenon. China now possesses both soft power and hard power cards up its sleeve which USA used to boast back then in 90’s.
"CHINA IS READY FOR WAR"
China says that they "will absolutely not…let anyone sabotage the international trade rules and multilateral trading system."
In other words, China will not give up without a fight. pic.twitter.com/TUX2obknoy

When will the Jeffrey Epstein files reveal the truth?
And how long will Apple and other big companies allow the Trump administration to steal from the government?
