Andrew Johnson became president in 1865 after Lincoln’s assassination, barely avoiding removal from office for violating the US Constitution. In 1973, following Watergate revelations, Richard Nixon resigned as president and was pardoned by Gerald Ford, ending legal actions against him.

Nixon’s crimes will doubtless be judged by historians by comparing their severity with the overwhelming preponderance of the crimes committed by Trump even before his second term is concluded.
Trump’s argument is conclusively refuted by extensive proven recounts that he lost the 2020 election—and his actions to prevent Biden from taking office, including organizing the march on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021—will remain a lasting debate if our democracy endures.
Because the US Supreme Court granted him immunity from prosecution while in office in July 2024, he cannot be tried, convicted, or imprisoned during his term. Special counsel Jack Smith was unable because of his election in 2024 as president to take Trump to trial, at which Smith believed he would be convicted for his actions on January 6th 2021.
Most Republican members of the US House and Senate continue to fully support Donald Trump. While some people believe that actions such as starting a war with Iran might change their stance, Republicans have not yet taken steps to remove him from office as a result of any of his decisions.
BREAKING : 🇺🇸 Trump’s own Senator gave him brutal reality check

US Senator — But the SOH was already open before the war? So what was the point of whole war?

Many elected GOP members in Congress have turned traitor and are now willing to allow Trump to install an authoritarian regime, which would take away rights that have been part of America for 250 years.
Is there no Senator in the GOP, like Barry Goldwater, who has the courage, integrity, or willingness to risk their career for the sake of our democracy?
We are now in a great civil war, or as Lincoln said, “testing whether this nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.”
Unless the Democrats gain control of Congress in the midterms, it appears unlikely that voters from both parties or independents will fully recognize the current trajectory of the country. While issues such as gas prices and affordability are frequently discussed, there is less focus on the potential implications of actions by President Trump and the role played by Congressional Republicans.
It was noteworthy to observe Senator Goldwater’s ideological development following his retirement. He adopted libertarian perspectives, expressed concern for environmental issues, and supported both LGBTQ rights and women’s reproductive rights.
It may still be possible to address this troubling situation, which Heather Cox Richardson thoughtfully details in her book, Democracy Awakened. This book is essential reading for anyone seeking to understand the real history behind our current challenging circumstances.

Will we recover from Trump’s legacy? His actions have lasting effects that may remain even with a Democratic Congress after the midterms.
Many Americans have been wondering when the GOP Congress will finally realize that Trump is not only wrong but deep in dementia and has gone completely crazy, as his actions in the past months have proven conclusively. Chances are slim because what the GOP and the big money that backs them are really seeking under the guise of offering independence and better years ahead remains really anxious to take over the economy so that they will have total authority authenticity to continue taking away our civil rights and making as much money as they can possibly make with no interest in the government services being funded to help our less wealthy individuals.
