Florida Christians Want to Kill Women Who Have Abortions

Abolish Abortion Florida, an evangelical Christian group, is calling for a ballot measure in 2018 that would treat all abortion providers and receivers as complicit in first degree murder, making them eligible for the death penalty. Abolish Abortion Florida – a Christian-run political group aimed at ending legal abortion in the United States – wants women who obtain abortions to be punished. That is, they believe any woman who obtains an abortion should receive the death penalty.

The push to kill women for exercising control and choice over their bodies follows similar (yet less deadly) calls earlier this year by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump to punish women for abortion. His campaign’s newest advisor wants to ban abortion in all forms – even in cases of rape, incest, and when necessary to save the woman’s life.

Based on the GOP’s focus on abortion this election it should come as no surprise the next logical step for Christian conservatives is to literally kill the women who want to choose what happens to their bodies.

Basing their reasoning in the notion that abortion is actually murder and would hold accountable not just those who perform abortion but those who obtain them, Abolish Abortion Florida is pushing for a 2018 state ballot measure (that would immediately be struck down assuming the Supreme Court isn’t stacked with Scalia-style judges) making all of those involved criminals with the possibility of being put to death.

According to a press release from the anti-choice organization:

The political committee Abolish Abortion Florida (AAFL) has launched a ballot initiative to amend the state’s constitution to punish abortion as capital murder. Under the proposed amendment, anyone who performs or procures an abortion would be charged with first degree, pre-meditated murder. “Abortion” would include any abortifacient drug or device that can kill an embryo by preventing implantation, as well as the intentional destruction of unwanted IVF embryos. The amendment would define life as beginning at fertilization rather than “conception,” and declares that “abortion deprives an innocent human being of the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

According to AAFL, the idea is not only to collect enough signatures to get the measure onto the 2018 ballot, but also to encourage legislators to begin putting forward legislation to abolish abortion instead of merely regulating it. Per AAFL: “The Supreme Court cannot make murder legal. Pro-life politicians have passed incremental regulations for decades, but it’s time to abolish abortion by recognizing it for what it is – cold-blooded murder – and prosecuting it accordingly.”

Can you see where they’re going there? Not only do they want to kill women who have abortion; they want to kill women who use contraception too. Although the majority of contraceptives are not considered abortifacient drugs, Christian conservatives confuse the science behind them up consistently arguing they all lead to the same conclusion: prevention of life.

Should Donald Trump take office, this group could have a reasonable chance of not only passing the abominable (and un-Christian) state constitutional amendment into law, but having it upheld by a Trump-selected Supreme Court stacked against women’s health advocacy.

That should frighten everyone immensely.

  1. Pathetic little creatures who are never going to have control over their own lives trying to manipulate others. It's the closest the mules are ever going to get to driving the wagon.

  2. Well, I suppose it us logical considering abortion IS murder, which science has repeatedly proven. (Imagine, a libtard not comprehending or ignoring science when it suits their ignorance and tiny minded agenda’s.) I’m bothered by how the Dr. is not mentioned equally as a murder though.
Its an uphill battle as the libtards will fight like tigers for the right to satisfy their (often perverted) carnal lusts and desires.
The wording of the headline is interesting also. There’s certainly no slanted journalism here. It’s not surprising when you consider that 90% of our media is owned by only 6 corporations.

    • Christian pro-forced-birthers love to overlook the fact that, according to the Bible, their god committed genocide on every baby and fetus on earth, and he either causes or allows approximately sixty million spontaneous abortions per year. The Christian god has never been pro-life.
Statistically, Christians have far more abortions per capita than heathens do. For humanities sake, I wish they'd have more.

    • Your use of the word "libtard" amply demonstrates precisely how much regard you hold for others and tells me everything I need to know about you….well, that and your poor grasp of English.

As for your version of "science", I can only assume you were educated in Texas.

    • Tell me why is it that you feel so superior, calling liberals tiny minded, when youre dictating to women what they should do with their own bodies. Why is science so important in this case but not important at all with regard to the environment and climate change. Why is it that you right wing conservative so called christians are so against abortion when you clearly will never be forced to have one or perform one. Youre so concerned about the fetus but you dont give a crap about what happens to the baby sfter birth. You never approve of any social program to help feed hungry children, repair crumbling inner city schools, get the lead out if drinking water. Youre so concerned about protecting life yet youre the first ones to demand the death penalty without any concern that the person being murdered by the state just might be innocent. I would think that the first case you hear about where we execute an innocent person you would demand an end to the death penalty…no you dont even think twice about it. You want abortion declared murder but many of you dont approve of birth control and don’t want your tax dollars to support it. Do you really believe that a couple should only have sex when they are trying to have a baby? That’s a bit unrealistic dont you think? Why do you think its your responsibility to save someone’s unborn fetus? Your god isnt going to blame you if you dont have one or perform one, right?. If a woman must face judgment someday, what business is it if yours? Your hands will be clean.
And who the hell are you to declare that liberals have “often perverted carnal lusts and desires”? Yep we’ve never heard anything about priests, televangelists, or republican politicians claiming to be christian EVER caught in sex scandals.
Conservative republican christians need to stop whining about the size of government, unfair regulations on pollution and capitalism and everything else republican crooks think should not be regulated and keep out of the private lives and decisions of others. Federal tax dollars are not used to fund abortion, so youre in the clear on that. You dont believe in government run social programs, thats the first thing you want eliminated but its ok to keep government as the moral police.
Mind your own business. Abortion is an agonizing choice that women do not take lightly.

    • Abortion is as much murder as refusing to donate blood, or organs is. In the same manner of the pregnant woman who refuses her womb to the fetus, the refusal of one's blood or organs results in death, the only difference is the one who dies from a refused organ donation is an already born and living person. The fact of the matter is no one, not even a fetus, has the right to use another person's body against their will.

    • Conservative Christians are just as idiotic as ever. This is from a Texan too btw (This is to the idiot who made the remark about texas) these so called Christians they are more concerned with what others do than they are of thier own lives. As long as they dont have to “pay for” anyone needy. As long as we enslave ourselves to thier way of thinking then it’s all well and fine. But any idea or practice that doesn’t fit thier rigid criteria then its against either God or The U.S.A.
They should really mind thier own business and worry about thier own lives and not others. Organized Government is just as Bad as organized religion. Most Christians are hypocrites who believe that since they are “saved” they can condemn and “sin” because they are already forgiven. I am a Christian, I believe in God. But I don’t push it on anyone and it’s just between myself and God. These people are idiots.

      • I'm non-Texan who's become particularly interested in that state and the Southwest, in general, these days and I'm glad you stuck up for your state because I don't like the bigotry about the Southern states. (This is coming from someone who has being 'enlightened' and is ashamed of her former prejudices about the Southern states as a teen during the Bush years).

    • You do know that just as many conservative women have abortions as liberal women, don't you? Do you figure you'll give out the same punishment for them?
Plus, we have separation of church and state in this country. It is to protect churches as much as to protect the state. If you start insisting on poking your Satanist nose into government, then the government can poke its nose into your horrible religion.

    • I’m very curious as to what form of “science” has “proven” that abortion is murder. Murder is a legal (or moral) construct. Science is not prescriptive in terms of morality or the law; instead, it deals with observable phenomena.

    • Sorry. Until a fetus can live outside its mother’s body without assistance, it is only POTENTIAL life. So says science.

  3. Thalidomide reduces spontaneous abortion of malformed foetuses hence it would be a good idea to dose all pregnant women with it.
