What percentage of Americans are now non-white? The answer is 40 percent and rising. Will race be the prime motivation for Trump’s voters?
We will test that conjecture on November 3rd, but to me that should not be the major reason to select Biden.
The most descriptive analysis of motivation for bringing in Biden I have seen came to me from reading what was the August 23, 2020 page one NY Times book review of “Evil Enemies” by Kurt Andersen which postulates that political power has shifted, sadly often with many prominent Democratic pols concurrence, so far to the right elites that our democracy is failing and our unique abilities for innovation are now in danger of fading into failure!
You can read this review here. By the way, I have bought his book.
Important new book on plutocracy's grip over America—It says plutocrats have pushed a pre-New Deal order: “Everybody for themselves, greed is good, the rich get richer, buyer beware, unfairness can’t be helped, nothing but thoughts & prayers for the losers https://t.co/NmLoQClEb6

That Trump and the corporate powers he represents thus, perhaps unwittingly to many, become the visible surface boil on our nation’s flesh—a startling lesion which desperately needs lancing!
Andersen’s surprise at his own failure to see the elite power grab beginning decades ago gets a perhaps somewhat ambivalent echo from long time conservative George Will’s Sunday 8/23/20 column in the Washington Post which describes our decline in power compared to China.
Will writes “A nation that nurtured elites that are at best ambivalent about their nation will not have sufficient confidence to inspire or deserve the confidence of other nations. Victor Nuland, former assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, recalls George Kennan’s 1946 ‘Long Telegram’ in which he said that in opposing the then emerging Soviet threat ‘much depends on the health and vigor of our own society’.”
Nuland adds, “The first order of business is to restore the unity and confidence of US alliances in Europe and Asia.”
Mr. Will concludes by writing “Voters’ principal consideration this year should be which presidential candidate is most apt to accomplish Nuland’s recommendations. Although life is full of close calls this is not one of them”.
Trump clearly fails everywhere by every comparison to our earlier leaders and now so unfavorably compared to his challenger Biden whose experience and expertise in foreign policy and in all matters of domestic governance is so overwhelmingly superior.
Opinion: Forces and events beyond U.S. shores get a vote, and they might test a Biden administration early and gravely https://t.co/0CJSy6mXUe
