It now appears that my last several Op Ed assessments of Putin’s likely restraint in not invading Ukraine are completely wrong. That my forecast joins the many qualified expert opinions that agreed with me, doesn’t lessen my deep concern about the dangerous steps now underway.
As Putin’s initial occupation of eastern Ukraine occurred, the sanctions from Europe started, apparently to no avail.

The sanctions to be imposed as his invasion escalates seem unlikely to cause him to stop. So sad and dangerous.
Experts are predicting that Putin is going to clip off pieces of Ukraine perhaps before trying to take over the whole country.
Thus, as one expert on CNN noted, when Ukraine responds militarily Putin can say, “See I told the world they would betray their ancestral home, Mother Russia” and then he will go on to kill without restraint.
Speaking of betrayal, talk about the Manchurian Candidate! You may not recall that 1962 movie of the same title with Frank Sinatra in the title role, but the definition of a Manchurian candidate is a person, especially a politician, being used as a puppet by an enemy power. The term is commonly used to indicate disloyalty or corruption, whether intentional or unintentional.
Trump with these quotes supporting Putin’s invasion of Ukraine shows his true allegiance to dictatorships.
Read two of them here and here.
Recall in his term meeting with Putin where he said Putin was not lying and that he felt that Putin affirmation was better than his own intelligence departments.
The second article above underlies Trump’s long fawning over Putin as follows:
The former President often accuses his enemies falsely of treason, but his own giddy rush to side with a foreign leader who is proving to be an enemy of the United States and the West is shocking even by Trump’s self-serving standards.
As President Joe Biden reprises the fabled presidential role of leading the free world, the predecessor who wants to succeed him is showing Putin that impunity, dictator-coddling and hero worship will return if he wins back the White House. Trump’s remarks on a conservative radio show on Tuesday will not only find a warm welcome in the Kremlin. They also will concern allies standing alongside the US against Russia who fear for NATO’s future if Trump returns.

The Vanity Fair article’s headline is right on: Trump Calls Putin’s Ukraine Moves “Genius” Because He’s a Sick Man Who Hates Democracy
As Trump says,
“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine—of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force. We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy, I know him very well. Very, very well.”
Vanity Fair’s article continues,
“Genius.” “Wonderful.” “Very savvy.” As a reminder, these are words Trump is using to describe a man people are legitimately worried is going to start World War III. While the whole thing is completely insane, it is not actually surprising given not only Trump’s well-documented affection for Putin but his disdain for democracy and Democratic presidents. Can an interview in which Trump claims Putin’s invasion is “the best, most terrific invasion” he’s ever seen be far behind? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Now, Americans, how much notice do you need to irrevocably dismiss this traitorous miscreant from public office for life, even before he gets convicted for his earlier crimes.
Hatred is a dangerous poison and after years of Trump’s injecting it into the American bloodstream, his latest example of hating Biden and our country as we wrestle with the most precarious situation in Europe since WWII shows clearly that Trump himself has lost all sense of loyalty to his own country.
If this Trump statement doesn’t lose him any standing with the vast majority of all Americans, we are definitely going to be backing a real Manchurian Candidate who could take over the USA beginning with the Midterms.
It will be of great interest to hear the reactions of GOP leaders who in backing Trump have disclosed their lust for authoritarian power is unlimited.
