This is so foolishly perverse! But it seems analogous to the reactions of Trump’s MAGA crowd, who screamed about having to wear face masks to protect against COVID! Now Hogan wants to make a simple safe service more dangerous or less available.
If we are talking about freedom, the heart of the privacy issue is choice. While the Roe/Casey solution isn’t perfect, its existential function has for nearly 50 years mostly kept those fetal tissue lovers out of women’s wombs!
As President Carter’s Director of Management and Budget Bert Lance famously opined “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

So, in erasing choice, other rights such as LGBTQ rights and even the use of contraception with safe early abortion pills could be subject to repressive state laws as abortion availability goes back to the hostile jurisdictions in 20 or more states. On LGBTQ rights read here.

Making women, especially poor young women, find services by traveling out of those hostile states means huge dislocations, unwanted births, forced career abandonments, deaths or maiming in a nation where already over half of our births are due to unintended fertilizations! This is just another form of racism which is at the heart of GOP intentions.
I have been in touch with one of those brave women, Alexandria Ball, who with her colleagues is working at a PPFA abortion clinic in Southern Illinois to take care of the adoption needs of St Louis and Missouri women. That this sort of extraordinary efforts has been made is encouraging but downright ridiculous if only we could keep Roe/Casey. Read here this story of enlarged clinical services being built there.

The heroic work of organizations located in legal abortion states is highly laudable but again expensive and not fully meeting the numerous cases when women want safe choices. Are we going to be that stupid? Is the Court to kill Roe and effectively legislate what 70 percent of us don’t want?????
Anti-abortion rights advocates and many media pundits see Republican takeover of Congress in the midterms as a sure bet. Many commentators see inflation, food and gas prices as more important influences than choice. If that opinion prevails it will further undermine of fragile democracy. Are those passing concerns worth destroying our personal freedoms?
As GOP tyranny progresses what other freedoms do they have in mind? Your call, Folks!
