Could artificial intelligence be the best method of birth control?

After World War II, the world realized that to keep the peace and avoid nuclear disaster, various ways had to be found, including the UN and NATO. These and the American military, even if used dangerously and stupidly for decades, proved partially successful.

Now we see global disorders brought about by the underlying growth of population from 2 billion in 1930 to over eight today.

However, we can tell from the current dangerous situation around the world, and with the worst US government ever that bridging the numerous cultural, religious and economic divides may not be accomplished before disaster strikes.

Worst US Government ever? You decide after reading NY Times David Brooks, a moderate Republican who on May 29th wrote, “I’m Normally a Mild Guy. Here’s What’s Pushed Me Over the Edge.”

Elon Musk’s May 30th honoring at the White House posed a whole host of contradictions, which like Brooks’ apprehensions, don’t have anything to do with AI except the desperate timeline the whole world is about human survival or the circumstances of those who do.

Musk’s effects on human welfare are disputed. Read here.

Of course, worldwide, the capacity with AI to put information in forms that allow it to be immediately transferred to everyone has inspired huge investment, not only by the United States, but every other major country in the world.

Now Trump has decided to cut long standing ties with China our major trading partner. The abject wisdom of that is sharply questioned by the May 30 NY Times article “Trump Makes a New Push to ‘Decouple’ U.S. From China”

While the Supreme Court gave Trump the okay on exporting 500,000 illegal aliens, his attacks on Harvard with its vital research programs and the foreign students in attendance underlines the importance of our competitive race with China.

As an immigration policy why don’t we give green cards and a path to citizenship to all these bright Chinese or any bright graduates instead of sending them home with a great US education to compete in China or elsewhere on AI and other advanced knowledge?

Most of these students who have to go back to governments run by dictators would opt as so many migrants before them to stay in a democracy.

As for the potentially worst aspects of government overregulation, that certainly deserves attention to avoid ponderous, overzealous requests for more and more data are often seen in agencies such as FDA long after ample proof of safety has been completed. How about FDA’s continuing surveillance of Mifepristone with its decade’s long safety record because of Trump’s ideologic view.

After Trump’s multiple female liaisons how could he ever be anti-choice. He certainly took another view just before being elected in 2016, as NBC reported “Trump on Hot Mic: ‘When You’re a Star … You Can Do Anything’ to Women”.

Read his words here.

Various solutions to check the negative power of AI doubtless will be enacted.

But surely the availability of new valuable innovative information and the profound effect it will have on employment and every aspect of our lives could make it possible to help most lives go farther beyond their present levels.

Women are already reducing fertility around the world, but not all safely or rapidly enough!

There is much concern expressed about the effect which AI will have on unemployment, although the capacity to capture more rapidly new levels of education for everyone suggest that concern may prove to be minimal.

We know that the decreased fertility level in most countries around the world will bring human numbers down in the future if the world can survive the attacks human presence is making on our environment and our inability to avoid hostility.

Unless the tyrannical Trump administration’s authoritarianism can be overcome, it would appear that the United States has reached the zeniths of its power since everything Trump is doing, will destroy its future vitality.

For example, as mentioned above with Harvard removing research dollars from the NIH and our universities cuts the heart out of much of the innovation which has driven our greatness over the years.

Meanwhile, as the present world population is predicated to reach 12 billion in 2100 from 8.2 billion now, up since 1930 from 2 billion, as many effective and humane methods of family planning need to be provided to a many men and women as possible to curb unlimited growth on a planet of finite size!

Obvious huge increasing adverse conditions for all planetary life are occurring more as confirmed in Elizabeth Kolbert’s 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning book, the 6th Extinction.
Read NPR’s take here (one of many key agencies from which Trump withdrew government funding).

And more without appropriate action by government leadership as the private sector sees growth as his primary objective!

Ironically, the Trump administration is trying to cut back government, just when it is important to provide restraint on a ruthless so-called free enterprise, which is squeezing most but the richest of our society.

One article I recently read asked, “Can AI save all” and she said, “Let’s see!”

As AI reduces the number of people needed to perform so many tasks’ people now do, it should also bring more leisure time, more opportunity for helping those less fortunate to better lives. It certainly won’t eliminate Trump types and hopefully not all world democracies democracy since its power in the wrong hands as too much power now with Trump would be deadly!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we see the United States as the greatest nation ever, we should not fail to recall that famous Latin phrase, Sic Transit Gloria Munda!! which means “thus passes the glory of the world.”
