In further emphasis on the fraying connection between Trump and Putin, we receive news this past week that his brave and honorable Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Ann Brink has resigned as of April 21st because she feels that the pressure that the Trump administration has been putting on Zelensky to end the war is appeasement.

This news is just another of the daily announcements of acts of sedition by Trump and other members of his Administration!!

One of the succinct expressions of Trump’s behavior came on May 22nd from a college classmate of mine which fully reflects what is happening to our democracy under Trump.

He wrote

Trump is trying very hard to destroy the economy, destroy our relations with our allies, destroy our magnificent research into health and welfare, let children and old people die without health care, and many other atrocities.

But to me his worst actions are his attempts to destroy our civil liberties, with an all-out attack on freedom of speech and the press, and ignoring due process and habeas corpus.

These are the things that make America great and attract some of the best and the brightest from around the world to come here and to work here much to which benefits our great country.

Trump seems to want to return our country to the bad old days of 150 years ago. Actually, he wants to make it worse than that, with secret police, illegal deportations and denying people their rights.

I believe that for two cents he would abolish the Constitution and substitute a land with freedom only for white male Christians with all others subservient to him and his cronies.

He probably has never read Orwell’s “1984″ but he has absorbed all the wrong things from it.

I just wish the Republican Congress members would wake up and admit what they all know: How destructive he is. And that goes for the Supreme Court as well, some of whose decisions would make their predecessors and in fact our most prestigious leaders of the past cry. This 21st Century Revolution must be stopped.

Since the GOP House congressional members already know this, Jeffery Goldberg and his panel of top public affairs experts on his May 29th Washington Week in Review program, asked why don’t they scream at Trump’s gross criminality?

Because they postulated that too many Americans think that the way Washington operates!

All the President’s Profiting from Open Screts can be accessed in full here.

I cite only part here:

No modern president has jumped so directly from the world of business to the presidency as Donald Trump. And in so doing, Trump has refused to do as his predecessors have done: sever ties to the companies or financial interests that may pose, or present the appearance of, a conflict of interest. By keeping his assets in a family-managed trust, which he can revoke at any time, Trump and his family are in the unique position to profit directly from his public service. Special interests in Washington have caught on. Those seeking to curry favor with Trump are not only donating to his reelection campaign but holding fundraisers and galas at his resorts, private clubs and hotels – the proceeds of which benefit him and his family.

To track this new influence-buying and presidential profiteering, OpenSecrets has created this page to track payments to Trump properties from Trump-related entities and beyond.

NOTE: All the numbers on this page are based on Federal Election Commission data released electronically on October 26, 2024.

Maybe ignoring these Open Secrets by both parties will finish off our democracy!

Of course Biden pardoned his son Hunter, but the character, number and corruption of Trump’s pardons exceeds by miles any President in US history.

Democrats in office have been too lax in drumming up the above facts, feeling that they might as well let Trump hand himself as they should properly back real programs for voters who used to be fully in their Democrat base.

However, Trump’s immorality of the resigned Ambassador Brink needs repeating.

Lest I close, leaving you frustrated and despondent, I suggest you read Dana Milbank’s May 30th comprehensive summary of Trump’s misdeeds, which will increasingly continue to backfire in his Washington Post piece entitled “The bully gets punched in the nose”, which you read here in full.

Its main point is “More Americans are summoning the courage to fight back against President Donald Trump.”
