Church and State

No surprise since he has yet to apologize for anything including his instigation of his January 6, 2021, attempt to keep Biden from being inaugurated, which should have brought Trump a felony conviction. His crimes have continued without any punishment as his doxy GOP has shown no courage!
There are other key voices also silent. As the June 6th Washington Post reported,
Once upon a time, America’s CEOs felt free to criticize government policies, often with a familiar complaint. Former Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg explained that “By reaching into virtually every sector of economic life, government is injecting uncertainty into the marketplace.” Cisco Systems then-CEO John Chambers agreed: “Business doesn’t like uncertainty,” he said. This was during the first Obama term, when the administration was trying to steer the economy out of a once-in-a-lifetime global financial crisis.
Today, at a time of full employment and low inflation, the Trump administration has unleashed a tsunami of uncertainty. Tariffs are on, then they are paused, then back on, then they get doubled. And what do business leaders say? Nothing. There are important exceptions: Ken Griffin, Larry Fink, Jamie Dimon and, of course, now Elon Musk.
In the past, business leaders have routinely railed against higher taxes on businesses. Yet today, encountering a raft of new taxes in the form of tariffs, they have mostly stayed quiet.

And speaking of uncertainty, as we see the unravelling of his many promises, such as solving the Gaza war or bringing a close to the Putin attack on Ukraine, because of his close friendship with Putin, Trump seems to be finding other pitfalls or hurdles!
Now the chance to join Israel in attacking Iran forces a very pivotal decision by Trump, as I write, is now pending.
Regardless of that decision which retired NATO Admiral James Stavridis said on CNN on 6/19 could go either way but was 2/3rds likely to be for the Big Bomb. One can only wonder if we are on the brink of a cataclysm of events which could lead to an unthinkable nuclear confrontation. A 3rd ongoing Middle East war has no certain solution.
Now add complications for passing his “one big, beautiful Bill” in the Senate without big changes face stern opposition in the US House of Representatives.
These challenges simply underline what this braggart buffoon has been piling up since he took Office for his second term.
Turns out his main MAGA issue is also unravelling because picking up illegal immigrants who have been here for multiple years working in jobs that most people won’t take, paying taxes and raising families with children born here as citizens has caused outrage among many people.
Deciding to send the national guard into LA instead of leaving the matter to be requested if needed by Governor Newsom has really made him look silly.
Harry Enten: "I think we can say that Donald Trump has lost the political battle when it comes to what has happened in Los Angeles. Trump's net approval rating on LA — way, way, way underwater at -15 points … this is happening on what should be on Donald Trump's best issue …… pic.twitter.com/bLeTTBoH7W

In a 500 square mile urban complex that is Los Angeles only about a square mile was under siege and was not considered out of control by either the governor Gavin Newsom, or the LA Mayor Karen Bass, who are both incensed at this example of his press toward authoritarianism.
As the Guard and Marines stay longer, incurring more expense Trump looks worse.
Not that the Democrats have inspired great voter majorities of late, but certainly Trump’s ineptness in handling his job, highlighted by his indifferent cruelty and his constant labeling of anyone who doesn’t totally agree with him in some ugly way.
Of course, you can add the fact that he is going to withhold funding from our prestigious universities which conduct research that has made America a leading creator of new breakthroughs in medicine and other vital technologies.
Speaking of bad immigration policy oversights, we have for many years attracted elite qualified foreign students from around the world to our universities, we have failed to offer these graduates green cards, and a path of citizenship upon their graduations. Most would stay in the US instead of returning to dictatorships as in China.
Deporting undocumented aliens who are working in farming, hotels and other places where it is hard to get US citizen employees has now been authorized by Trump.
Reporter: 40% of crop farmworkers in the U.S. Are undocumented according to the agriculture department. Do they have a carve out in terms of the mass deportation program?

Will be further deferment as it becomes obvious how important so many of these undocumented aliens are in doing rudimentary jobs in our economy.
This of course, does not mean that there is still plenty of room to put through reasonable laws on immigration because we can’t take in everyone who wants to come here as the Federation for American immigration reform has been arguing for many years without getting a reasonable bill passed that would accomplish that objective.
If the rational, measured suggestions for reform offered for decades by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and other NGOs with comparable goals none of this ugly situation would now threaten our democracy!!
Trump’s attacks or failure to please long-term allies such as NATO as well as his erratic TACO–Trump always chickens out–policy on tariffs has created uncertainty about the long-term stability of the US dollar, which is perhaps the most concerning effect so far of his incompetence.
When will the voters convince the erotic GOP to join in impeaching, indicting and removing this traitorous felon?
One of my college classmates recently sent me his comments on Trump. I copy them in full here as what he so eloquently states appears in more and more op eds and among a ground swell of citizens affected by his aberrant egotism.
The Trumpists have been so busy bringing America down and demeaning our reputation for liberty and justice, that it is difficult to confront each one. My principal doubts are:
1. The actions of ICE are the most un-American actions we have ever seen in America. They are acting like a Gestapo or secret police, arresting people anywhere without identifying themselves, even arresting elected officials. They go around incognito often with masks, invading even courts, places of worship, schools, hospitals. It is clear they have made many mistakes. Surely this, if not illegal, is not America. What is so wrong about it is that they could carry out their program openly and legally.
2. Trump’s all-out attack on our civil liberties, acting as though they do not exist. Almost every day he does something against freedom of speech, or the press, or of assembly. He ignores the precepts of justice, permitting actions and deportations without due process or habeas corpus. He favors diminishing the separation of church and state. He tries to use his powers for a personal vendetta against those who criticize him. He has hurt America’s reputation and continues to do so with wild abandon.
These actions cannot and must not serve as a precedent for any future chief executive. It must be clear that what he does is unlawful and outside the powers of any president. I fault the Republican members of Congress for sitting on their hands, and letting him run amok. I fault many courts that do the same, unable to find a reason to put him down. He is acting like Big Brother in Orwell’s 1984. He is, it is true, very clever at conning people, lying so it is impossible to tell if what he says is true or not.
Then my friend makes the ultimate most frightening observation in a world with over 12,000 nuclear weapons. He is talking about a person whom the media constantly refers to as the world’s most powerful:
“He is not a smart man”. Almost totally backed by his gutless GOP legislators.
Are we bright or lucky enough to survive this troubled time?
On the point of Trump intimidation, which has affected every key power audience in the USA thanks to Trump’s insane use of fear for personal power, the silent CEOs are not alone.
BREAKING: The American Bar Association has sued the Trump administration on behalf of its members to put an end to Donald Trump's law firm intimidation project, calling Trump's efforts "unprecedented and uniquely dangerous to the rule of law." https://t.co/4Om5A2DyqY pic.twitter.com/jvG7G2lHFI

Law firms, sitting legislators after those frightening Minnesota killings, silent Liz Chaney … on and on!!
The stupidity of continuing to abide this caustic, stupid tyrannical totally unhinged egotist gets more obvious with every passing day. We need more Barry Goldwater types in every category desperately.
