Major US military interventions since Korea 1953

On February 27, Trump and Netanyahu initiated a war on Iran.

Predictions have been made about how long such a war would last, but of course no one knows.

Was Trump motivated to initiate this Iran War because of his fear about the continuing disclosures about his behavior with Jeffrey Epstein? I have not heard CNN or MS Now make that likely connection.

In the case of the Korean War, we know that President Harry Truman assembled several allies to join us in that war with North Korea.

The United States’ effort to save democracy stands out as its only successful intervention, notably because our resistance helped South Korea remain free and establish an Armistice line with North Korea—a boundary that still exists today.

South Korea’s economy has thrived under democratic leadership. This partial success may have influenced later interventions, possibly driven by interests related to the Military Industrial Complex.

President Dwight Eisenhower issued warnings regarding the influence of the Military Industrial Complex. The outcome of the Korean War may have influenced United States leadership to pursue further interventions; however, these efforts have yielded less favourable results.

Despite our overwhelming military capacity, the first defeat occurred in Vietnam when we left in 1975 with our tail between our legs.

In 1994, I led humanitarian medical missions to Vietnam and saw they had recovered well and were progressing positively after our intervention.

Despite the Vietnam mistake, we didn’t learn; as pundits say, repeating an error makes it a choice.

The next major error was during George Bush’s administration when Congress approved the Iraq invasion, which proved to be another serious misstep.

Billions spent on interventions could have funded domestic needs, but instead contributed to anger and events like the 9/11 attacks. Despite pledges to avoid conflict, another war has begun. Past military efforts have failed to resolve issues and increased the national debt, now at $38 trillion.

One must ask again in plotting the Iran war did Trump conspire with the Israeli Prime Minister to benefit both their political careers? In Trump’s case, we cannot dismiss the possibility that he did this because of what he fears will be disclosed further as the Epstein files get completely opened.

Again, the gutless GOP failed to stand up since Trump’s attempted coup on January 6, 2021, or which he should’ve been tried and incarcerated.

Any solution to Trump’s constant attacks on our democracy, I am not at all optimistic about what even an overwhelming Democratic Midterm election victory can initiate the needed efforts to correct what he has done to destroy our democracy.

Any success is now left in the hands of voters in the midterm election to reverse his fascist initiatives against our Constitution and our precious Rule of Law.
