Trump pines for governance like Xi in China or Putin in Russia

Watching Trump basking in the Chinese welcoming ceremony on his last visit is simply one of many occasions when Trump has been so pleased to be in the company of authoritarian governments where he seems to be more comfortable and enjoying their company.

We can easily recall his great reception for Putin in Alaska and his numerous meetings with Putin, where the two seemed to get along, apparently knowing about his many connections with Russian projects now and before.

Since Trump has nearly achieved an authoritarian form of government in the United States, it will possibly be of interest to voters, but we’ll have to see as the midterms are months away.

There is nothing that Trump won’t try to do, including building his ballroom or possibly erecting a triumphal arch near Arlington Cemetery. One Democrat member of Congress went down and discovered that the ground had already broken for this arch before any approvals or plans had been laid before Congress.

Congress is no longer functioning as prescribed in our Constitution since the GOP has decided that nothing Trump does will offend it.

And now we find that several people have died under ICE incarcerations –– 18 to be exact, and those that continue in ICE custody have been denied proper health and food service services. Deaths have followed.

Meantime, of course, the full Jeffrey Epstein files have still not been released, and his convicted partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, has been put in a country club prison.

Nothing seems to be done that is not for Trump’s benefit, as he has already derived illegal and unconscionable profits from being president of the United States, so he and his family have gotten extremely rich from Trump’s job.

Using this ridiculous war with Iran, which he started, Trump is now claiming that keeping Iran from getting the bomb is more important than taking care of American voters’ concerns about the economy and the prices that he caused to occur because of the war and because of his tariffs.

The whole thing has gotten so ridiculous that neither party nor the media seems to be able to do anything about it, except scream. But of course, the GOP wants nothing more than continuing his authoritarian control has been aided and abetted by the Supreme Court of the United states was the conservative majority that is likely to wreak havoc on democracy for decades to come.

It is obvious that his goal is to create an authoritarian government, but of course, he is able, aided by billionaires who would prefer that same condition, so that they have free rein to do whatever they want without proper legal government interruption.

The gerrymandering of states that was initiated in Texas has now spread all over the country, and it is clear that the South is anxious to reimpose Jim Crow by making it very impossible for black voters to have representation.

It’s going to be a close election in the midterms, but gerrymandering could very well keep the Republicans in power, and even if Democrats do not completely overwhelm, the chance of obtaining control of the Senate will be lost.

The ignorance of the Trump voters who put this villain in office has become ridiculous. As I noted in my May 15th op ed entitled “Trump and many experts concerned over Iran’s nuclear bomb needs review” we will continue to have this issue hanging over our heads until the midterms. That likelihood and the innumerable other evils unconstitutionally committed by Trump should influence our voters, but that is not at all certain.
