After proclaiming that his decision would come within two weeks Trump pleased Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by pulling the big bomb attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites June 21st about 4 AM in the morning Tehran time.

This was not an easy decision for anyone, including Trump. I now have come to thoroughly despise him, but the outcome is highly uncertain and far from clear at this time.

Media comments on whether or not we need to attack Iran after the serious damage inflicted by Israel, now becomes a question for some people but not for Trump and his sycophants.

Trump has proclaimed a glorious victory, and of course, demanded unlimited response for the outstanding job our military did in executing this mission. No one has doubted that but that of course does not answer the question of whether this attack killed Iran’s nuclear program. Whether true of false awaits confirmation.

Most media opinion says we can’t bomb Iran into stopping its bomb development.

What occurred against the US military base in Qatar in which the Iranian missiles were shut down without doing damage or killing any US serviceman was judged to be a way to de-escalate.

Now the Iranians want return to negotiations about the future of overall development of a nuclear weapon.

Now we learn from news reports that Trump is feeling inclined to use this clear and obvious weakness on the part of Iran to foster regime change which of course would be judge desirable.

At this point, it would seem that Trump’s taking the action he did would greatly enhance his political status. Fear that this act on his part would greatly affect the attitude of his MAGA seems quite unlikely, particularly if it is perceived that Iran is sufficiently disabled.

Does this event now cause all the other mistakes that this administration has made to go away and set the stage for a successful GOP election in the midterms?

At this point, it is certainly not possible to know what it is increasingly disturbing to know it is likely that this felon will get away with what he’s done so far in his 2nd term to dismantle our democracy and put some of our most important institutions into unfavorable positions

For example, the administration continues. It’s attack on Harvard claiming that it is creating a dangerous climate of antisemitism, which is clearly not the case, but is being used as a basis for denying access of foreign students which has served as the base for huge gains in the research of funded by the US government over a substantial period.

It is certainly possible to have great doubts about the wisdom of the Iran attack, but I have significantly greater concern about the other aspects of what’s happened so far and Trump‘s second term to permanently setback the effectiveness of our traditional institutions to function effectively in an increasingly competitive world where we see China gaining increasing advantage as Trump appears to be focusing on keeping us in an increasingly isolationist condition.
