Why is Trump succeeding in reaching his authoritarian goal?

In a recent article University of Chicago, political scientist Robert Pape noted that the percentage of Americans who described themselves as white was in the 1970s over 70%. Recent surveys have indicated that the number of White American citizens is now trending to under 60% and that the immigration mix well in the next decade or so will make Caucasian Americans a minority, along with all our ethnic citizens.

As we know, immigration has throughout our history been the driver of America’s great success, since when newcomers arrive, they frequently must begin to work for far less wages than they subsequently gain.

However, their children are encouraged to work hard, get educated and succeed economically and culturally far beyond their parents.

I personally had an education for the past several years on this immigration issue when my wife required constant assistance from nursing helpers. The agency that supplies them first ascertains that they were here legally. Over that time, I interviewed over 20 of these women, almost all of whom came from Africa.

Some were married, many had children, and some of those children had already received an education that allowed them to take more successful positions. All did their very best in the difficult job of helping my wife.   Ethic groups before them had been discriminated against, but the immigration issue is now so politicized that the humane solutions FAIR and others earlier proposed are not going to be possible.

Among my wife’s nursing helpers that I interviewed, some were studying to become nurses, dental technicians, and many other jobs, which would help them and America.

Now we are suffering under the pending dictatorship of a racist president who is clearly making use of the unspoken argument namely, immense fear from some Caucasians to the decline of Americans, who are white which caused them to vote for an aspirant dictator in 2024.

Wikipedia tells us that in 1970 Caucasians were over 83%, representing a strong white majority in this country. By 2020 that percentage of whites decline to 72% whites.

The projection is for Caucasian Americans becoming a minority in 2043 would mean that at that time there would be no dominant majority.

While for decades organizations such as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) urged both Republicans and Democrats to develop sound plans for determining a rational basis for admitting immigrants.

NO political action could be generated to have that legislation happen.

We now can see that ignoring the obvious need to restrict unlimited immigrant numbers has caused chaos that cannot be easily resolved.

Historically we know that immigration has proved to be a key ingredient to the success of the American democracy since these immigrants come with great energy and an incentive for working hard and moving forward upward in a democracy that presents huge opportunity.

Since Caucasian Americans are becoming a minority there has been an increasing violence in behavior which is allowed Trump and his authoritarian allies to claim that more great restrictions are needed for public safety including bringing National Guard troops into major cities despite the wishes of mayors and governors.

The Hegseth Trump meeting with our military leaders on 9/29 was an expensive and outrageous fiasco, but suggested an attempt to intimidate our military to in future take action to police our cities against alleged levels of violence we know don’t now exist.

However an interesting article was published on 24, 2025 entitled “Political violence is an American problem only white America can resolve” By Jerel Ezell, a sociologist and visiting professor at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

He argues that

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s shocking murder at a Utah speaking event, which has sent shockwaves through the nation, is further evidence that political violence is now a distinctive feature of modern American politics.

Although the shooter was eventually identified as a white 22-year-old from a mainstream Republican family, the early counter-response, including alarming threats to Black students and colleges, shows how quickly this violence risks inflaming America’s already deep racial tensions. Despite the nation’s growing racial diversity and its growing connection to political violence, the solution to this violence lies in the hands of white Americans.

So, Trump talks about making America great again which is really a way of wrapping his racism against non-Caucasians in an American flag.

Have you noticed that his speeches and his ideas and his proposed actions have become increasingly extreme to the extent that many people are wondering if he is losing his mind as he pursues his obsession with gaining his dictatorship???

His failure to solve the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, lower food prices, address urgent issues such as climate changes, attacking women’s rights, seeking retribution with indictments for alleged political enemies, enraging our traditional allies, and seeking a Nobel Peace Prize hasn’t raise questions from his mesmerized his GOP Congressional allies about these failures!
