Numerous world class experts have long proved that the world’s continued reliance on fossil fuel will accelerate the probability of a sixth mass extiction of human life on earth.

However, often unreported or too lightly reported is the progress that has been made and developing other sources of energy from solar, wind, and nuclear.

You can read here the extensive progress made. A primary advocate, of course is China, which has far too little fossil fuel, and most import expensive quantities. It thus has been very active in forwarding non-fossil fuel options.

Human history tells of multiple occasions when air quality has been severely impacted by fossil fuels, and thus, rapidly transitioning to other uses has become mandatory.

So regardless of the utter political ignorance of Trump and many others about the importance of fossil fuel, other uses will be rapidly developed.

Elon Musk and other self driving vehicles will soon begin to predominate worldwide.

These vehicles need more electrical capacity, which must be a resource of further developed to keep up with demand, however, this will happen, and the impact of fossil fuel will continue to rapidly decline since it must for our human members to survive.

This obvious trend should not fail to remind us about the huge surge in human numbers since 1930 when world population was only 2 billion and is now over eight and route to 11 billion by 2100.

Given that women are producing less children, it certainly a favorable trend, but will not necessarily occur rapidly enough to keep the growth of unsustainable threats, such as war, f famine, and pestilence from driving human behavior to self-termination.

To fully understand the huge progress that has been made in developing alternative non fossil fuels I suggest you read this comprehensive report on exactly where we are with those uses. It is a long article but certainly worth your time. Getting there won’t b easy, but it is well started.

Here is just one quote of many you will find in this splendid article.

“The World Energy Outlook 2016 (WEO2016) made the points that VRE have five technical properties that make them distinct from more traditional forms of power generation. First, their maximum output fluctuates according to the real-time availability of wind and sunlight. Second, such fluctuations can be predicted accurately only a few hours to days in advance. Third, they are non-synchronous and use devices known as power converters in order to connect to the grid (this can be relevant in terms of how to ensure the stability of power systems). Fourth, they are more modular and can be deployed in a much more distributed fashion. Fifth, unlike fossil or nuclear fuels, wind and sunlight cannot be transported, and while renewable energy resources are available in many areas, the best resources are frequently located at a distance from load centres thus, in some cases, increasing connection costs.”

It is ironic and hopeful that the Straits of Hormuz crisis could encourage the necessary power transfer from fossil to fuels more swiftly.
