Church and State
The trends are clear and the evidence mounts that human survival at population numbers now present will prove highly unlikely! And the quality of life for those remaining much diminished!
Many contributors of wisdom to this erudite site have made similar predictions but repetition is the basic mechanism for transmitting learning which can lead to corrective action!
On CNN on Saturday September 7, 2019 a brash blond anchor woman became highly incensed when she inferred (utterly incorrectly) that Bernie Sanders had the opinion position that called overpopulation a problem.
This issue has so long been argued that the anchor’s ignorance about the stupidity of endlessly adding unserved human consumers to Planet Earth annoyed me almost as much as Bernie’s failure to underline that fact in his subsequent press release. He is however very clear about his full support for reproductive rights including abortion choice for women.
Unfortunately this CNN anchor’s loudly and irrationally voiced view that being in favor of reducing world numbers was just racism by whites against those of other hues!
Egad! When I was born in 1931 our Earth had 2 billion humans, the US 130 million; now our Earth has almost 8 billion, the US 330 million! How we get “racism” out of that last almost 6 billion people born since my birth I find hard to calculate!
As for global warming, desecration of the Amazon rain forests and concomitant attacks by human consumers of everything eatable drives species to elimination.
Our CNN TV protagonist brashly overrode any attempt of her two guests to reply and then used her ultimate weapon, signing off to a commercial message.
So those with facts just need to keep repeating them because many on those oft maligned enlightened folks with power who own massive corporate resources are smart enough to want sustainability.
As Earth suffers human desecration the present amazing electronic connectivity of humans will increasingly make people of all nations, races and creeds aware of the dangers fostered by organized fantasy providers such as religions and the mindless greed of corporate owners who like Trump see only their profits as their goals. Dictatorships are flowering but as President Chi is learning destroying the freedom and economic prosperity of his Hong Kong fiefdom is both difficult and stupid.
This site which so ably defends the separation of church and state makes clear that the word “church” includes any dictatorship of the human spirit!
Its brave and talented creators need your continuing help to sustain what has become a powerfully unique voice for improving the chance that the quality of human life on Earth depends on our willingness to recognize that we share this tiny orb with creatures and other living physical entities large and small whose health is vital to the quality of our survival.
